I recently got a PS3, And of course, Got it folding for none other then XS. Now, While my main PC's CPU will always be running WCG, My G92 is sure to get some F@H action once this client is out.

The R580 (in the X1900XT, etc.) performs particularly well for molecular dynamics, due to its 48 pixel shaders. Currently, other cards (such as those from nVidia and other ATI cards) do not perform well enough for our calculations as they have fewer pixel shaders. Also, nVidia cards in general have some technical limitations beyond the number of pixel shaders that makes them perform poorly in our calculations.

All cards now have unified shaders and NVIDIA brought out the CUDA platform. There wasn't a reason not to use the big pool of green fans.

To be honest I always wondered why there was a certain "lack of interest" from both of them (ATI & Nvidia).

Imagine all the kids now telling their parents
they need a GeForce/Radeon XXXX costing $$$$
for their "school science project".
