My x3350's sensors are ok, I get about a 3C diff between hottest and coolest in real temp while running occt. Course i'm WC'ing, and the apogee block has a pretty solid mount, you can't hardly get it uneven if you tighten down all the nuts completely.

Things have smoothed out a bit. The temps are a little higher than I would like, but I have it stable @ 3.6, 1.392v. It primed for 14 hours last night, small FFTs, and the temps never went above 60 degrees on the "hot" core. I'll try a mix tonight to see how it goes, then see if I can push it to 3.8. If it does, I'll be overjoyed and call it a day.

I'm thinking of cancelling my X3350 when reading these posts. I was thinking about getting 450x8 like my old 65nm Q6600 could. Only then on default of lower then default volts. But it seems some have to ramp the v-core quite a lot to get those speeds. And when you ramp the v-core the cpu will consume 2x the normal wattage wich is not handy for my pc running 24/7 i'm running my Q6600 at 3.2 stock volts so i was hoping for 3.6 with stock for this X3350 but it seems thats not possible ?
System Specs: -=Game PC=- | -=Lan Box=-
2x the wattage? What volts and clock speeds will double the wattage?
All PSU calculators dont show that kind of difference....http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngin
Using the link above, at stock, my system uses 372W. I just o/c the processor and got 435W. Thats a smidge more than 50% increase, not 2x.

I know of a few people running a Q9450 at 3.6Ghz with stock volts all around. The issue is the board you get to run it on; in my case I got the P5E3 Premium, and it is a b!tch of a board for my CPU/RAM combo. I can run everything stock at 400x8, except for the RAM, it needs +.04v to be able to run at 1:1 with the CPU. If you want to run a CPU at 3.6Ghz 24/7 then this is the chip for you since you don't really any voltage at all; you just need to read up on the possible board you want to use, and look for the RAM that is performing the best with it. In the case of the P5E3 Premium, seems that the CellShock PC3-14400 is the most stable RAM.

I would be wholey impressed if I saw some screenshots of 3.6Ghz yorky's with stock voltage. Best I could do at 3.6Ghz was 1.29v.
I'm at work right now, but I have seen [read] posts in different forums stating that they are able to run the Q9450 at 3.6Ghz with the vCore set to 1.20 in BIOS [1.168 in CPU-Z]. I will try it myself tonight when I get home. I will also try and locate the post where I read it.

VID or stock for a lot of these chips are 1.12 (at least mine is). So that would be over stock (on my chip). I can pull 1.19v at 3.2Ghz.
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe my chip was pulling 1.168v from auto when set to 1333Mhz FSB. I'll reiterate tonight.

Well, I was unable to locate the posts; but I was unable to get it up to 3.6Ghz at stock volts, I had to crank it up to 1.27v.
On a side note, for some reason the system is acting funny at 1600FSB/DDR3-1600. I dunno if I just tried to many settings and it threw the motherboard a curve ball or something; all I know is that I just won't go past 3-4hrs worth of Prime95 anymore. However, I was able to get it pretty stable to 415FSB with RAM running at 1245Mhz with 5-5-5-15 timings and 1.94v. I will have to wait a bit to post the settings from the BIOS because it is still running OCCT.

CORRECTION - VID now shows 1.23v. I have screeens at 3.2GHz 1.19v. But not at 3.6Ghz.
A new BIOS revision [0402] for my board [ASUS P5E3 Premium] has been released, and in the comments it states: "Better CPU Support".
I'm hoping this might allow me to run my Q9450 @ 3.6Ghz stable. I will post result soon.

Telo - you are crashing @ 3.6 because you are not giving enough juice. Most people need close to 1.28-1.32v to run prime stable on any board. I have not seen a single person run 3.6 prime stable at 1.20v. If you do, they either have an overvolting board or must have a golden chip and that would probably fly under LN. Good luck
^^ agreed
I'm using 1.33 volts according to OCCT (1.41/1.42 according to Everest) to get 3.6GHz stable.
Trying to get 3.7GHz stable now
Make sure your VTT/PLL don't get to high if you leave them on auto (like I did)!

Your PLL seems a little low, try 1.60v. Your VTT [FSB termination] is extremelly high for that CPU, try anything lower than 1.40v.
I have a different board from yours, but I run my SB voltage at 1.20v.
Also, what is the mix-max for your NB voltage? My P5E3 Premium has 1.25-1.80 or something like that; so 1.65v to the NB in my case would be rather high, so you might want to lower it I think [but, since I do not have the same board it is up to you].
Intel rates the voltage for the Q9450 up to 1.37~v, so IMHO 1.35v seems a bit high for 3.6Ghz. I'm able to boot into Windows with 3.6GHz @ 1.31~v, but since my RAM is not really supported by the board with 4 sticks at that speed, the moment I try to run anything it crashes within 5 minutes; if I just leave windows up it can stay on for a long time. I'm not really interested in trying to run my PC with anything less than the 4 sticks I own, so testing it with 1-2 sticks is a waste of time for me.
