You should mod the sunbeam rheobus in to the stock drive covers and stealth the cd drive.
Dunno why, buy they way they sit farther back than the stock covers kinda erked me.

That's a good point. As it is I have the SnnBeam about 1/4" further back than the adjacent drive so the door will close...the stock mesh bay cover would hide that and also dim those BRIGHT LEDs. I'll give it a try.

For some reason it made me laugh when you said that, almost as if it just hit you what you are actually stuffing in there.

Love the raptor mount. I don't remember from the beginning threads, but is he tossing in a couple storage hdd's in there? If so where are you mounting them?

There's one Storage drive in there...mounted in the optical bay above a fan.

I've been working on one of my Cosmos cases as well, its still WIP stage ATM, as I'm awaiting parts.

Been toying with where to place a triple and a double rad, so seeing this has helped with ideas.

I did start to do a log, and typed up all the detail, and then lovely FireFox/Vista 64 combo decided to hang again so I lost the lot, I then just cracked on with it. Being Mr Impatient, I didn't take any photos until I got to stage in photo in sig.
Have just started a work log from here in, as there is plenty to go until it's all finished, and from here in its going to have to slow down a bit (parts on order etc...)

Started the reservoir by making some templates from 1/4" birch ply. This is the front part of the rack.


Three 1-3/4" cylinders will rest in the niches.


To give some perspective.



The back part will be fused to the cylinders and ported for inlet/outlet.


To get a better/thicker template I wanted to route the part out of 1/4" acrylic first. I bond the acrylic to the ply using a strong tape adhesive from 3M.


I used the bandsaw to rough out most of the material to keep the router fropm grabbing.


Routing acrylic is a serious mess...


I then used my doubled templates to make the parts from 1/2" acrylic.


Here is how they rest on the top rails.


I cut the tubes to an appropriate length and tape them in place to have a look.



I canted the center one upward to give it some attitude...



I'll port the back plate and glue in a divider and hand sand the tubes to the exact bevel...which is just a few degrees. It would have beeneasier to have all the tubes the same angle but anybody could do it that way...



These ends get 1/2 spheres of acrylic fused to them. First I will counterbore a flat and then drill and tap the 1/2 spheres for G-1/4 plugs--the acrylic ones that accept a 5mm LED...


So 6 tubes will come up and mate to barbs here. This way the res unit can be tilted upright to fill or even downward to drain.


I might change the profile of the rack..I have plenty of material and something might occur to me as I sit on my duff pimping out my modz...

The tube I got is really something...true .25" wall on it and optical clarity...certainly worth the high dollar. Drilling and tapping the 1/2 spheres is going to be tricky...I got extras...

Well played CD.

Now you've really got my attention. It's a bold move putting those cylinders up there and I'm fascinated to see how this is going to turn out. You've got a soufflé there that is going to go one of two ways visually... I think the key will be how the hoses connect and what you do to "finish" the look. If you find yourself adding more stuff to make it "work" then you know you're in trouble.

As Tim Gunn from Project Runway would say: "make it work".

CD, you continually out do your self... I generally hate the look of reservoirs, but those just changed my mind!
They look wicked, and I think they go well with the roll cage.

Maybe you could improve the rack a bit by making it flow/arc more like the rails/bars that are on the case.

It needs something. The parts that rest on the rail are what catch my eye in a bad way...they seem too round and obtrrusive. I can easily alter that shape and change it from convex to concave...or something.

Going to let that settle for the night.

Red and Black. I was also going to have a clear loop but I think red and black will be the nicest.
