XP 64 bit is smoking fast when you fine tune the OS and services. Vista is "ok" when it's tuned but that statement is pretty crazy in my eyes.
I have my xp64 tweaked out and have the same video as you and I've got 3259mb free and utilizing 20%. What happens when you right click on my computer and select properties... does it say you have 4 gigs installed and the OS is seeing it?

I think I'm just going to re-install windows again and see if that helps any because I am at a total loss as to what would cause this....

Wow, that sucks ... I'd never know where to begin, but it does sound like a memory mapping issue within XP ... out of curiosity, does the system properties page change when you take out a stick at a time?

Too late, I'm already in the process of re-installing windows so I can't check that right now. If it happens after the re-install I will start pulling RAM to see what happens
Windows was reporting 2.75GB and Everest reported 2.xxxGB of RAM but CPUz and Everest both reported that I had 4-1GB sticks installed. Also, everything is still stock. I haven't had the chance to OC yet. As far as the DIMMs themselves are concerned I tested both the Mushkins and Patriots for several hours each using MemTest last weekend and they both came through w/o any errors
I definitely think its a memory mapping problem. I know the Asus Maximus Formula has a section where you can enable/disable memory mapping but I couldn't find anything in the DFI BIOS that was related to memory mapping. Oh well, I guess I'll find out in about 30 minutes.....

Well, it appears that my problem stems from Everest version 4.50. Windows was reporting 4 gigs of RAM up until I installed Everest at which time Windows went back to reporting 2.75GB. For some reason it is passing incorrect info to the OS.
I sent them an e-mail so hopefully they'll sent me an update soon.

XP 64 bit drivers with all the bells and whistles from the Vista only packs that creative release, diagnostic utils, speaker setup, and a TON of improvements over the creative drivers. I installed these and they're a notch above how my system sounded in Vista 64.
You can also install all the programs in XP from the original CD then use the auto update agent to update them even thou the drivers and software for xp 64 bit are not on creatives site. Base driver support is offered but not EAX or the console... they're pretty damn sneaky these days.

hi guys...i need help badly...
i can't bring my 45nm quad x3350 on dfi X48 mobo above 420 fsb.
i even lower the multi to 6 , 450 x 6 = 2.7ghz. and the setup can't even boot from bios. i tried to up the NB volt to 1.45v , it was the same result.
what are the possible reasons that caused such limit?
thanks
im suprised this thread isn't bigger and the maximus formula thread is 200 + pages long
the dfi is miles better in terms of stability..
with 8gb of ram , this board really shines in vista 64

i got the 2x 4gb kit reaper 1066
i can't run them with just changing the divider and upping the nb voltage to 1.35
should I wait for the new bios or try anything else?
Im after some advice please as ive read through the post`s and am i right in thinking that for the 45nm E8400 that the max FSB vtt is 1.45 so 1,4 or lower is better ? and what about the v-core as people seem to be getting 4Ghz on 1.36v or so but what is the max safe volt for it.
Ive just got one so im gonna oc it over the wk end and see what i can get out of it so any other advice is welcome.
Cheers All!!!
Edit.. Have i got confused is 1.45v the max v-core and the FBS vtt can be as low as 1.2v??? HELP !!!!!

You did have it turned around in the beggining of this. 1.45V is the Absolute most as says Intel for V-Core
I'll have to read thru the pdf again if I can find it, but I thought VTT shouldn't be higher than 1.15V for the Dual Core 45nm, could be mistaken on that, but for 4 gigs with an E8400 you surely do not need high VTT.
