Cool PCGH: 3DMark Vantage - huge GPU and CPU comparisson

PC Games Hardware benched all weekend long. Futuremark's newest 3DMark called vantage was tested with almost every Direct X 10 videocard and a bunch of CPUs, stock as well as overclocked ones.

Have a look at the benchmarks:
    http://www.pcgameshardware.de/&menu=...=641615&page=1
(click the picture to enlarge it)

    Full story (German):
    http://www.pcgameshardware.de/aid,64...enchmark-Test/

    Some conclusions we made:
    - Vantage runs as fast on Vista without SP1 as on Vista with SP1 installed.
    - Vantage scales well with multi GPU and multi CPU solutions.
    - a AGEIA physics card gives a boost of about 1.500 points in the CPU score and 200 points for the final score.
    - LOD does not work (at least using 175.12)
    - Fastest video card is the Nvidia 9800 GX2 in Quad-SLI-mode

I did some benching on air cooling and managed to get close to 20k with a single CPU system. See http://extreme.pcgameshardware.de/in...reme-test.html for more details.

    Video of the game tests:

yea bigtime. I am guessing Vantage is not as shader bound and can really take advantage of the extra texturing power on the NV chips??? Thats pretty much the same story of real world games, so thats not a bad thing

Not really. 3870 X2 outperforms all of the cards from Nvidia in its price bracket (8800's and 9800 GTX). The dual 9800 setups cost like £100+ over a 3870 X2, so for its price it is prforming great. The single 3870 has never been as fast as the 8800GT, so it isnt really big news to see it scoring slightly lower then the 8800's.

They also didnt bench a 3870 XT Crossfire X setup, but they have done a 9800 GX2 crossfire.

    Also, just wait for RV770

Its likely that the Nvidia drivers are cheating somehow. How else can you make specific drivers for a benchmark to perform better without cutting some corners?

Also, ATI are performing just great with their current drivers, they didnt need new specific ones just for a benchmark.

If by "drivers are cheating somehow" you mean nVidia's current hardware is much faster than ATI's, then you're right
    Are we there yet?

It's not the first time nvidia has "cheated" on drivers so it could be a possibility. Although I think that's not the case right now.

Nvidia is not cheating with the drivers, I am pretty sure of that. Using older drivers, there is no end result being displayed, because Vantage often crashes after the graphics tests. We made a comparisson between 175.12 and 174.74 for just the GPU tests. Scores are about the same:
    http://www.pcgameshardware.de/aid,64...&show=original

Final result with just entry preset finishing:

Cool, but how do i run it then?
It says that requesting a free trial code is possible but i don't know where to get a free code from. I tried it earlier today but the site gave me an error.
So i waited a couple of hours and now i can't find that link on the futuremark site?
