    I'm getting a weird error:

There is not enough disk space on C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$ to install Service Pack 3. Setup requires a minimum of 4 megabytes of free space or if you also want to archive the files for uninstallation, Setup requires 4 additional megabytes of free space. Free additional space on your hard disk and then try again.
That's all fine and dandy, but my drive's got 54.5GB free.

I just hope M$ hasn't managed to slow it down towards the recent builds, still on build RC1 v3264 here and it offers slight performance improvement over SP2 and it has been working so great so I have seen no need to upgrade but soon I will format and slipstream SP3 into it and compare this RC1 to final to see it still runs as fine.

It is doubtfully genuine, on TechNet forums is still contest about different releases of 5512. Hash, size is identical, but release date is different.

Its not slower than 5508 as far as I can tell, haven't compared benches though.

I don't use torrents and I have it.

    Want me to rehost?

I'll test a few file archiving, transfers, copy and so on to see if it has any differences to 5508. Have a build with 5508 on it still.

That's what I thought as well, but just out of curiousity, I attempted to install it on another machine (The heap in my sig)...and it installed fine. So it was something wrong with the original machine...which I should've mentioned, is a Macbook. Apparently you have to add something to the registry to get it to work; SP3 doesn't seem to like EFI on these Apple machines. Tried the following solution below and all is well.

This issue affects Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional operating systems running through Apple Boot Camp.

If you attempt to install this release candidate on an Intel-based Apple computer (Mac Pro, Mac Mini, MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, or iMac) that is running Windows XP SP2 through Boot Camp, installation may fail with the error "Out of disk space".

To avoid this, manually create a necessary registry key as follows:
    To create the registry key

    1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
    2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Setup
    3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and click String Value.
    4. In the text box under the Name column, type BootDir and press ENTER.
    5. Right-click the name BootDir, and then click Modify.
    6. In the Edit String Value dialog box, type the drive letter for your system drive, and then click OK. For example, if your system drive is C:, type C:\.
    7. Close Registry Editor.

After you have created this registry key (or if you created this key when you installed a previous version of this Service Pack), you can proceed with the installation.

just installed the final over Xp Pro SP3 build 5508. Install went well, and up and running v5512 RTM now. I hope we get a SP4 in late 2010 to tide me over on xp some more!

I love XP compared to Vista.
