The final SP3 release is version 5.1 build number 5512 (5.1.2600.5512) confirmed by Chris Keroack and the general public will be able to officially download it starting from April 29. The installer package from Microsoft is ~580MB.

MSDN and TechNet will only get access along with general public, not before them which caused a lot of complaints and uproar yesterday.

    All understood.

    Install & reboot success.

Current build in registry now reporting: 1.511.1 () (Obsolete data - do not use)

However lots of components installed are now .5512......

Sysem properties reports Service Pack 3 minus the build number...

Inconclusive, but no obvious harm done testing

Edit: Several places in registry now reporting version 6,0,2900,5512

If this changes I will report back here

The file version in warboys ss [below build] is exactly that of the final release though.

I got the told website about it being 580MB instead of 330MB. However I think that the RTM version includes only the SP3 and excludes non related drivers or software, as a full executable file of 330MB.

It does look that I have all the tools to make a basic proper review about its 3D, multitasking performance.

    Metroid.

I'll wait about a week before I install it to see what software incompatibilities arise, and if they affect me or not.

Finished installing SP3 . Everything seems to be running fine and it seems to be a little more responsive as well. RAM usage seems to be down as well (75ish-MB)

I had some video issues (tearing with vsync on) in Source games, so I'll post back to see how if the problems were fixed or not.

Update: Source tearing issue seems to have been fixed.

XP64 is Server 2003, a completely different operating system. The SPs are on different intervals as well.

    Heh.

Don't be fooled by them then

The download has had the same filename for a while..... think of them more like clues to where the RTM might be found
