FOXCONN Launches BLACKOPS Intel X48 Enthusiast Motherboard

FOXCONN Launches BLACKOPS Intel X48 Enthusiast Motherboard

FOXCONN today officially launched the long awaited second BLACKOPS motherboard in the Quantum Force series. Based on the Intel X48 chipset and packed with many unique features for extreme overclocking, BLACKOPS comes out of the box with 4 different chipset cooling options: regular air cooling, water cooling and even LN2 or dry ice. BLACKOPS has been optimized for Intel Core 2 Extreme, Core 2 Quad and Core 2 Duo processors up to 1600MHz FSB, and supports a maximum of 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 1600/1333/1066/800MHz memory. With 3x PCIe x16 2.0 slots (2x x16, 1x x4 bandwidth), and CrossFireX support, it also features 8 phase digital PWM, and a new SONAR daughter card based on the Realtek ALC885 8 channel audio chip. The BLACKOPS motherboard will be available in retail channels this month, priced at around US $400. For further information check out this page.

Seriously, just pass the cost on to the consumer. But the thing is, anyone buying a black ops is highly unlikely to not have enough money for a real sound card

    One bit reads:

Meanwhile, the BoostSwitch header, conveniently located on the motherboard near the CPU socket, enables hardware selection of CPU clock speed without entering the BIOS.

Is this really more convenient than entering bios? Asks the, capital "N," noob overclocker.

Yeah this actually the first quantum computational board for the mainstream. Previously they were only available to employees of the NSA.

I wonder what does it have to do with this:

It's a panel connected to the motherboard that lets you monitor and set FSB (and probably lots of other things) in real-time. I saw Shamino adjusting FSB in-between 3DMark tests on Cebit.

Yikes! Never seen anything like that before.

Wild stuff. I'd love to see it in action.

atleast it will be easy to find on etailers websites... just sort by price most expensive first

Now we can just hope the board lives up to the hype around it, if it does then it will be the best thing since sliced bread.

It WILL live up to expectations.

    The board is just EVIL

    EDIT

BTW one can call the cooling marketing. I dont think so
having the option to watercooling with GOOD fittings, AND RUN dryice or ln2 on the northbrige is not an option ANYBODY has

And for that price. Whats the problem ?

For me that is like 30 $ more than an top of the line Asus board.
And EVEN cheaper than the i790 that kills harddrives

Finally got mine today! A bit late and a bit pricey but this is what you're paying for:

    Your typical marketing talk....

    The not so typical...
    Familiar names there...

Extra O-ring, 1/2" Hose barbs if you need to switch out the current 3/8"

All retail has thermal paste installed on chipsets rather than crappy thermal pads, and screwed on not push-pinned - the way I like'em.

    Below the Motherboard:

With the studs provided, no Dimas Bench-table, but a decent Testing station.

    Hmmm whats inside this package...

When you need them they are real handy

And of course the holder for the GPU Blower:

I like the VR's being included in the package ... . Looking forward to have this one on my test bench once.

It looks OK but for the price it damn well should do, the problem is foxconn's dismal/non-existent record of writing killer bios's
lots and lots of cores and lots and lots of tuners,HTPC's boards,cases,HDD's,vga's,DDR1&2&3 etc etc all powered by Corsair PSU's
