Crazy, that epson printer does not use power from the usb in opposite to the usb-stick. I tried a 4pin 12V rail instead of the 8pin one that helped in terms of power consumption. With the 8pin rail the consumption rose ~20W and with the 4pin only 5-10W if i remember correct. Gotta revise that sometime.
I assume this will also help in terms of temps but the cpu will be limited to 18A instead of 36A (only interesting above ~1.45V vcore).

I agree & have a few methods to getting more Mhz out of the CPU with a fitness program.
As you has seen my 6400BE will now but up at 3600+ where before i could only get 3570 max no matter the VCore.

    Bios: 1.3125V
    CPU-Z: 1.312V
    DMM: 1.355V

Found points for NB voltage (green).

    Bios: 1.14375V
    DMM: 1.142-1.143V

Testing voltages with 4pin vs 8pin rail:

    Bios: 1.3125/1.14375 (cpu/nb)

    4pin/idle:
    CPU-Z: 1.296V
    DMM-CPU: 1.326V
    DMM-NB: 1.139V

    8pin/idle:
    CPU-Z: 1.296V
    DMM-CPU: 1.327V
    DMM-NB: 1.138V

    4pin/load:
    CPU-Z: 1.312V
    DMM-CPU: 1.353V
    DMM-NB: 1.139V
    P-Tuner 12V1(max): 13.5A/12.04V
    P-Tuner 12V2(max): 0
    DMM-12V1: 11.92V

    8pin/load:
    CPU-Z: 1.312V
    DMM-CPU: 1.351V
    DMM-NB: 1.139V
    P-Tuner 12V1(max): 7.2A/12.09V
    P-Tuner 12V2(max): 5.4A/12.09V
    DMM-12V1: 12.04V
    DMM-12V2: 12.05V

Using 8ping results in more accurate 12V1 P-Tuner readings.
Beside the 0.03-0.04V higher vcore (which is huge isn't it?) everything else seems to be in range.

Well Brother Esau I think I know the cause of that problem, some usb products really poll the bus many times causing the cpu to kick up out off low power (c2, c3, c4, other special mode) mode causing it to consume a lot more power! I first saw this on my centrino notebook, so i never use usb stuff on my notebook any more when I'm on the go (even changed to a pcmcia bluetooth card with dma so it would not excess te cpu for everything it needs). You can check this with windows performance measurment program and than select c1,c2,c3 enz percentage time. It will show a difference in these modes when popping up. I guesse you will see almost no c2 and c3 time when running the epson.

So with this overvolting, setting my ram at 1.9 is a bad thing????

And CPU is 1 notch over default, I think it reads 1.31, got it at 2900mhz so far...

Very high volts can fry and/or decrease the life of your components. Phenoms are designed to respond well to low volts...voltage increases are a last resort imho...

I was a tad off on the vcore, but my performance doesnt seem up to snuff....

I have used the bios template, maybe someone can see something I am missing, here it is, along with an 06 screen. (I would thingk an 8800GTS 320mb would score a tad better in 06... heh)

I've just been wondering why under the 1066 memory divider in the BIOS the tRAS cannot be set to 15, but with MemSet you can set it to 15??

Camp, I have to pick it up from a firm far away when I get time, not him
I'm in no rush, better BIOSes are needed yet anyway. Would be good to compare and see if I get the WISE freezing and MHz on the DFI that I did on the MSI at the same settings. By that time I'll have another MSI board to check out again, if its any better.

    Well spotted.
I disabled EHCI (aka USB2) support in the bios and the core temps stay at 32°C now. The power consumption rises at about 2W thats what i get on other boards also.

I've never had power increase with USB device on a few 700 series boards and I use 5 USB attachments daily [KB/Mouse/USB-D/P-Tuner/Nokia]. Kinda strange that it actually puts a high load on the CPU (I/O load), looks certainly like a device specific feature.

My DFI picked up in morn by a friend, its not knew, package was opened but its giving me C1 as well, same as on MSI, Abit and GBT boards.

Yeah, I tried that usb-stick on many different boards (M2A-VM,M3A,P5K-E) on all boards the consumption rose about 2W. All had USB2 mode enabled.

Don't say you have another non working chip (they don't die).

The 9850BE hasn't booted for 4 days on any board. Thought it might be board but new 740G and M2R gives same error. I'll just try debugging it after I've played with the 4450e/740G setup

On DFI, like with Abit, it maybe BIOS related.

The GBT780G booted fine with the 9850BE and the 9600BE here. However the 9600BE did not boot in the GBT board after I ran benchmarks at 2.6/2.2GHz with the 9600BE. I mentioned the enormous voltage increase from 1.296V up to 1.47V at those settings before, maybe that was too much for the 9600BE. GBT board works fine here with the 4850e. Gotta try the 9600BE in the DFI board but chances are good I fried my second phenom also.
