what v-core is it on load on OCCT ? you might need more v-core thats how it was with me on F@H SMP it ran for 6hrs at 3.6GHz Prime95 but froze also like maybe 20mins after SMP

yeah there the same 12MB L2 with the 8 multi

well it ran for 6hr 28mins going to put it to F@H SMP see if it can take it :p I think SMP is better then all the other software to check for stableness

The Vcore is 1,24. I have rebooted and up the Vcore to 1,3.
    12V - 12,71 on OCCT - 12,11 on the multi
    5V - 4,78 on OCCT - 5,10 on the multi.
    3,3 - 3,36 on OCCT

I'm folding a little diferent that usual

My SO is Windows XP 64 bits and have VMware Workstation with 2 virtual machines with Ubuntu 7.10 64 bits. To each I have 2 Cores assigned so I have 2+2 cores to folding.

    Yes I now

I have up the Vcore and changed the RAM to slot 2 and 4. Never now.

    I give up.
I will change to a P5K tomorrow night and will test it saturday to see if the problem is the board.
It can be the CPU but that is so rare.

I have discussed with Dom and we have a few diferences:

    1- The RAM
2- The operating system. I'm using XP 64 bits. I will not change to Vista at to have support for 4GB or plus of RAM that is the only option.

I don't know if I have the two setting in the red or not. But, I run 24/7 for over a year at

    FSB Termination 1.30v
    NB Vcore 1.45v

    Hope this helps.

FSB is blue and NB purple

Im running FSB 1.45v max and NB 1.55v 2nd highest

trying to get my Q stable at 3.7GHz

FSB Termination is that the NB also or is that some where else on the mobo ?

Whats kind of temps are you getting on your Q idle and load speed and vcore ?

One thing I need to say/ Once I thought my system was stable. (I Loop 3DMARK06 and Prime95 simultaneously as my Criteria Testing). I then start looking at Windows error logs and try to fix them. Sometime it just is not raw hardware. Can have a OS configuration factor in there.

Idle (if you want to call it that is 39C as I write.

I need to set my Vcore at 1.4375v in the bios to get 1.39v at idle and at BIG load the Vdroop can go down to 1.35v. On this board, I set the Vcore at the stable Vdroop. I do that on other boards as well. I can only find the Vdroop by extreem testing.

I need to download the Real Temps. I have not seen that before.

Vdroop, I have thing set well now. And, since my testing, I added some hard drives, two TV cards etc. Just don't want to mess with it anymore. I has not crashed in a very long time. I can still loop the two programs and go to work, come home and they are running as I left.

    I am using Bios 1219

You can run a Xeon on a non Xeon motherboard? Never thought about it much. But, I did not think you could do that before some recent posting.

I probably need to clean out some fan filters. I think I am past due. I have never had a throttle down yet with my CPU. As long as it does not crash, or throttle down during hi load, I am happy.

Here are two real fast real temps

    Oh NO!

Hey, I got my P5B running above 400 FSB, but now I've run into more problems. I had pushed it to 425x8 (3.4), but 438x8 (3.5) is proving more difficult. In the process of getting 3.5 stable, I upped the memory timings from 5-5-5-15 to 6-6-6-18. The system froze on the boot screen... upon restart, everything powers up and the fans run, but nothing happens: no beeps, no video, no HDD activity.

This has happened once before, when I restarted the comp while Windows XP was still in the process of booting. I unplugged the system and let it sit overnight.. in the morning, it booted up just fine. Hopefully it will work the same way this time.

Assuming the same problem is going on again, what could be at fault for this wierd behavior? Any ideas are appreciated

unplug, hit the restart button one time, take the battery out for a few, should clear the bios and work

Already tried clearing the CMOS. Whats with the hitting the restart button before taking the battery out? I've never heard of it for this motherboard before, and it doesn't say anything about it in the manual.

Hitting the reset button discharges the PS. Taking the battery out does a sold clear. MB 101

You'd think unplugging the PS and letting it sit does a good enough job of discharging the PSU. And there's got to be a good reason it's not a step in the P5B manual...

@ blufire I just turn off the PSU switch or unplug it if you dont have one

let the ASUS light turn off at the bottom and turn it back on and power it up

it should start if it was an Overclocking that failed to reboot ive done it many times

and cas6 never worked for me on this mobo its been along time since I tryed it but it didnt work

why dont you use the x9 mulit ?

It usually does that for me too, but not this time. I woke up this morning and it still doesn't work. I didn't use the x9 multiplier because I had to jump from 366 to 401 becauseof the FSB hole, and i didn't want to jump from 3.2ghz to 3.6...maybe not as good a decision in retrospect

Any other ideas? Anyone else had their board power on but not post, and unplugging/resetting the CMOS didn't work?

I figured RAM would be a good place to start, but check this out... I started the comp up with NO RAM in the computer, expecting it to throw a complete fit like the manual said it would, making all sorts of beepity sounds. Nope -- NOTHING happened, behavior was no different than with both slots in. I don't think it's even making it to the part where it checks to see if basic things are functioning such as the RAM :-(
