Got to reason of my troubles:

Not I got to the end of mistery- somethig is wrong with socket- when I pul the lever ONLY RAM leds are on, if I relese the lever, all leds except CPU are on. So my conclusion is that is somethink wrong with the socket!!!

You have to be brave...go for it,be daring for once..Seriously,the det ram thing is easily solved with the right volts, timings, frequencies etc etc..Its really no big deal..
I had 2 det rams early on and it was simply too low Vram !

Go for change and never look back. The Rampage opens a new world here..

DET DRAM happens with RF bios as well. It's usually caused by incorrect timings + insufficient voltage supplied to DRAM during POST. I'd agree it's pretty damn annoying.

Had to RMA my Dominators last week, hoping the new ones can run @ stock speeds without failing memtest. Hopefully it's not the motherboard.

    @ Me3850,

What are your full system specs? What's your chip? What memory do you have, exactly?

Have you tried running the RAM in the 333 strap at 1051MHz?

Follow most of my POST as I use a daily 4GHz on core 2 @ 500x8 as well as a 485x8. PM me if need be for a CMOS template. I have others who share that it OC's like the E6750 but cooler.

This to my personal experience with 3 mobos since new in Oct. of '07 is not normal. I only experienced it on 2 and one was so rarely random on OC tweaking, but both that do it are for sure on BETA BIOS's so keep that in mind. The are bETA for a reason. We are the ginnie pigs. BETA v0907 was the 1st time I got any of the det_ram issues. So I'd say, if you're on a FINAL BIOS to v0802 and below, v0602 was best for me, you should be fine. If I do occasionally get the hang, currently on v903, it is almost always due to stressfull RAM performance options of the Ai Clock Twister in combo w/ Performance Booster, as well as tightened timings. Various strap settings effectided this too at certain FSB levels.

What BIOS settings? I am considering venturing back to Maximus Formula old BIOS's to try and sort out this Q9450/X3350 issue. I am gonna try 0207 for Rampage Formula tonight and see what it does.

Maybe the X48 is the answer, the extra bit of performance lets 45nm clock higher. I really dont know, but I think I will buy another 45nm and see what it does, and make a conclusion based on that.

Try with full auto for memory timings/sub-timings. Maybe a timing need to be set a certain value to run with higher fsb.

There's a Maximus Extreme 1007 as you can see HERE. Are you sure you're not getting confused with the DDR3 board?

Oh crap, You guys I'm sorry, you're right it's Maximus Extreme. I was looking at the Station Drivers site the other day and jumped to quickly when I saw "Maximus" listed. Boy do I feel stupid.

What's a safe memory voltage on the MF? My G.Skills are rated for 2.0 - 2.1. If I run them at 2.15 or 2.20 to get a higher clock on them, am I going to damage them?

EnJoY did a review and ran 2.2v through them without any hassle. But I don't know what will happen in the long run if you do this. They're PowerChips so go a little bit too far and they're dead. Nothing like the slow death on Microns. I killed a set feeding them 2.26, took them just a few days. Oh and it's not a matter of cooling here.

@ Grnfinger: Many thanks for posting those BIOS settings for a quad, apologies for the delay in thanking you but I had a small problem, the out port of my Fuzion block decided to spring a leak during a pretty intense 2142 session & I only noticed when I saw fesser one dripping in a big puddle through the bottom of my case. One soaked 8800GTX & X-Fi later I can confirm that FS1 is non-conductive

As for the BIOS settings, I couldnt even get as far as the dreaded DETRAM. Methinks that my Q6600 is at an FSB wall at 435

Post your current bios setup, I doubt you've hit a wall.

I did some attempts and with high voltages for NB (1.73v), full auto for memory settings, including strap control and 1.4v, I was able to enter in Windows at 8x451 but upon starting prime95, it froze after 15-20 seconds. 8x460 and over result in det dram or struck in Windows boot.

It's like if the requirements to get over the mystical 8x450 threshold is a very very steep climb I guess something is wrong in the BIOS in terms of tweakings to support a 45nm quad better and I decided to leave at 8x440 for now until the new update which unlock this.

    Did you try lower voltage?
As you know, I have the same ram, but only one kit (2x2GB).
They do 1080Mhz with 1,96V in bios, which is about 2,0V in windows. Timings set to "Auto".
It could be different with 2 kits of course!

It almost feels like the way HD3870's had until the new BIOS was released for them. I wonder if thats going along the same train of thought.

Hello all, first post from a newb. Been trying to get registered for a few weeks. Thanks to who ever finally approved my registration.

Anyway I got a Maximus Formula with a Q6600 GO stepping. Still on the 602 bios that came on the board.

This is my first water cooled PC and the first real overclockable one.

I got it up to 4GHZ and my memory running at 890 cas 4 with the settings below.

Hey guys, great work on consolidating all the Maximus info so it's easier to find the important stuff. I joined the Maximus Rampage owners today. Everything went smooth as silk! I'll be adding my graphics cards to my cooling loop and installing a 9450 this weekend before any OC attempts.

To avoid even more repetitive questions may I suggest the syntax be changed for the flashing command?

    I had to use: AFU236U /irf0219.rom /n /pbnc

...to initiate the flash. Typing afudos didn't work for me. I honestly can't remember if I tried it in all caps too. This was discussed deep in the thread and is currently buried somewhere.

Too in eastcoasthandle's post he mentions putting the board in the refrigerator as a means of assisting removal of the NB HS. In the Cliff's notes I think it should be mentioned that Component Cooling spray is available from Radio Shack and safer. It should also be stated that it is far easier to remove the NB hs from the board new out of the box. If removed after running it takes far more heat or cold as the thermal compound then acts like cured epoxy. Arcticlean works fine when removed new. After being run it takes Acitone. I only bring this up because I just removed the NB HS from a new Rampage Formula. The SB came right off. The NB needed about a 6 second blast of the Component Cooler. My Maximus was run for 2 weeks prior to removal and that ordeal took lot's of heat and about 45 minutes.

Our board (in our test bench, 15th on CPC's Leaderboard) came with the 215 bios. Not sure if it was backed up. Will check.

Rampage Soft Modded Maximus Naming Convention

We need to decide on a name for these hacked boards.

    Suggestions:

    1-Rampagimus
    2-Rampaximus
    3-Haximus
    4-Maximus Rampage
    5-Maxpage

and for the P5E owners with the balls to try it:

    1-R5E
    2-P5E-Rampage
    3-P5R
    4-P5E-R

    RAM & NB setting

Tony (of OCZ fame) suggested dropping Vnb and raising 'Cycle Time' to 60. Helped us through an 'FSB wall' on a genuine Rampage with D9s
