Thanks Praz! (my humble apologies if you posted these screenies with the 2x2gb ram earlier).

Could you list your bios settings with the gskill 2x2gb sticks? I'm having difficulty getting them stable on the dfi X48 board and I think it would be very helpful to see how you set your bios settings (particularly voltages). Thanks again!

Sweet!!! I'm running an e8400 with the 2x2gb gskills, so that will be very interesting to me to see your settings.

The X38/48 are going to use different settings then the P35. This is a link with the G.Skill at 1080MHz using the X38 board with XP and Vista 32/64 Bit.

Hey Praz- thanks for the link!

(Just realized I was posting off topic concerning the X48 board-sorry! )

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=177258

If you do get them running stable at a 500fsb, would you post your bios settings? I know it's a different board and different brand of ram, but I think the gskill sticks use powerchips too. Thanks!

I think Praz mentioned some testing with 2x2gb sticks a page or two ago on this thread and I'm eagerly awaiting his findings...
Yes they are 2x2gb, and i was about to say what Praz already did about similarities between DFI P35 and X48 boards.. I'll do some new tests and i'll post the results.

@Praz ..those GSkills u used there are Powerchips?

I have another question for u guys.. How reliable is memtest for windows under Vista 64? because is the only one who gives errors now, prime blend is ok (i stopped it after 7h with no errors)

Love the work you did on the heatpipe How is it working for you?

Also, yu will have to show me how to get the 73x working

I had no problem making 1000mhz+ with my OCZ PC2 8000 2X2GB sticks they ran 5.5.5.15.5.54 @ 2.0v with everything else on auto.

Have you tried using a divider other than 1:1 to see if you can get the RAM to run 1000mhz just in case its a 1:1 problem ?

I don't have the 8000's in my DFI P35 atm otherwise I'd check my self.

What program do u use for testing? I never get instability issues in prime blend(10h +) but it always failes in memtest for windows after 1h or so.

    BIOS-reported voltages are:

    CPU Core = 1.36v
    DRAM = 2.08v
    NB Core = 1.55
    CPU VTT = 1.12v

I've disabled the Core Multi-Processing option as I believe this setting relates to hyper-threading and, to the best of my knowledge, this processor does not have this capability.

The key to stability with this Mushkin memory was setting tRFC to 52.

Performance level won't go below 8. I did try enabling Channel 1 Phase 0 Pull-In but the system wouldn't post, so I'm guessing I've reached the limit here.

The GTL settings were copied from someone else. As I have no real idea what these settings do and the system is stable, I'm happy to leave them at these values.

    Memory benchmark:

The system is 18+ hours Prime stable although I have no screen shot.

Temps at 21C ambient as reported by CoreTemp are 39C idle and 53C load with large FFTs (assumes Tj max 105C).

As I reached my target overclock, I didn't try and push the system any further, although I may in the future.

For me what works in XP is also good for Vista 64Bit. I normally run Vista 32Bit first as it seems the most sensitive to stability issues.

1:1 settings is what I'll post up as soon as I get the Crysis and UT3 benches done in XP, hopefully this evening. Here's a couple of BIOS screenshots till then.

Interesting on that core multiprocessing being disabled. I actually disabled that myself to see if I would only get a single core in my Q6600 working. That was not the case. Does the core multiprocessing really have everything to do with Hyperthreading for older P4's? Can we disable that now with no lost performance or issues?

well i did some further testing and this is what it came up.. I modified tRFC from 46 to 45 (don't rly know why) with the rest on Auto and is stable till now using 2 instances of win memtest (97% used memory) for 3h now. Could that be the problem?

And I think that my NB voltage is to high.. I will try lower it when i will arrive home and do some retesting.

tRFC has a major impact on stability with 2x2GB sticks. Usually best to start with at least 52 or 54. A higher value never hurts. Also a higher value normally allows a lower voltage to be used.

Thanks for those results Praz. You certainly do a lot of testing...

Anyone experience issues with loading previously BIOS settings from CMOS reloaded? The specific issue I encountered was that my memory bandwidth went down for seemingly no reason when I restored known settings. I tried reloading optimized defaults and setting everything exactly the same and then suddenly I was back to normal. Seemed strange.

Currently testing the hardware in my sig at 8x 520mhz FSB 1:1. Improved memory write bandwidth quite a bit over 9x 415mhz FSB 5:6.

yea, those memory speeds are quite impressive praz. I have 20mhz on your ram, tigher timings, plus have phase pull ins enabled and I dont get near what you are getting. I am on 333/800 divider however so that may have everything to do with it.
