Seems so...I PM'd him and he wrote me back saying he'd try to do better...that was almost two months ago!

    Nothing too amazing, but:

    Q6600 B3
    Batch: L722A471

    3.51 Ghz (9x390)
    Asus P5E x38 motherboard (502 BIOS)

    vCore: 1.6v BIOS, 1.496v load (Everest/CPU-Z)

Water cooled (D-Tek FuZion on an MCR320 along with an 8800GTX)

Prime95 stable (runs WCG 12+ hours a day, full load on all cores)

Ya watercooling setup is asking for a bigger or extra rad I think Karl...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Yeah unfortunatly there isn't really too much I can do about that. Isn't enough room to fit another rad (aside from MAYBE an MCR120), and upgrading to a PA120.3 isn't worthwhile. Maybe some time later this year if/when I get two of ATI's new R700 GPUs I might go dual-loop in a new case or something.

got my q6600 installed and running @ 3.6Ghz at 1.33V, will keep testing to find the max oc. just wondering whats the max volt for 24/7 with watercooling?

My batch also did 3.6GHz at 1.33v
I needed 1.43v for 3.8GHz though, and it runs hot on my loop

Every CPU is different, I'd say, the Kentsfield showed to be a robust chip, we have now enough time to say it. No deterioration like the 45nm. So, pump it until your water can't give you better than 65-68°C on the cores while loading with small FFT the 4 cores. There's your limit. Usually they will top at 3.8GHz, if you're lucky, 3.9-4GHz (hey, must be very very very lucky)

Intel specs for the Kentsfield are 1.50v. With people using loadline calibration and vdroop mods, account for overshooting voltage too. So, 1.45v should be really an extremely safe limit. 1.5-1.55v, if temperatures are within range, you should run fine for some years, maybe

So, despite the lower vcore, it heats quiet the same as a per clock reference. The delta between cores is up to 7°C usually. I'll try to reseat in few days with some MX-2, then I'll try a vertical mount of my WB. If nothing do it, I could lap it

See my signature for all hardware setup

The most interesting, is my P5B deluxe stable at that memory OC, timings and just 1.25v on the NB. And hey, it is 266 strap. The X38 is a best clocker, but couldn't clock this at 266 strap on a qaudcore and furthermore with 1.25v.

I got a really good P965, even if it is a C1 revision

OK I mounted a 40mm fan on the chipset and ran prime95 for an hour. I'm disappointed the fan did not make a huge difference. This thing is like double the thickness of your average 40mm fan. LAME! Looks like i'm going to have to replace the chipset cooler all together. Gotta do something about the PWM temps as well. Anyway.... Here's an hour of prime.

With just cold ambients, all inside my case (18ºC) I can do this:

    This Q6600 + DQ6 has a FSB wall around 470Mhz. This same Q6600 can prime @ 510Mhz FSB on P5E3

Max stable 3dmark (X38-DQ6's fsb wall hold me back):
    Note: C1E activated

This CPU is a beast. I can run 3dmark06 at this setting with only 1.58v, but sometimes it would crash on CPU test. The sad part is when I discovered that this mobo has bigger Vcore intervals after 1.60v. A pic to make you understand:

Well, I'm happy with this piece of hardware

    Rbs.

PS: P5K Deluxe will never do that. Max 3dmark06 stable was 4050Mhz at same conditions.

I think with the 9450 being 8x limited, the q6600 is still the way to go at least for my $$

The Q9450 in a X38 or P35 chipset should do well. But for SLI users that are limited to Nvidia chipsets that can't really lean on the FSB with a quad core, the Q6600 is still the better bet for overclockers. The 8x multi of the Q9450 really hurts it on Nvidia chipsets

The best I could do with a Q9450 on my board is 475Mhz FSB (3.8Ghz). It's really frustrating when you know that the chip has plenty more in the tank, but your board simply cannot push your chip.
