Hey guys, I finally got a new case upgrading from my aspire/apevia x-navigator to the Silverstone tj07I wanted to post up a build log of sort to show that the tj07 can achieve great temps on air.
I am simpily amazed at this case, the quality is amazing, there is no comparison. I'll never buy anything other than silverstone and lian li from now on. The case is heavy but not as bad as I expected, its empty weight is about 30lbs according to my scale and full, mine is about 45lbs. Having the psu and hard drives on the bottom makes a huge difference. imo the x-navigator felt about just as heavy due to the unbalance in the weight with the psu at the top
I started off by sleeving the cables for the front panel audio, usb and power. I used techflex ogre because I wanted something a lil different from what everyone else has
Next, I started adding in my components. When I pulled my board out of the old case I left the heatsink on to allow my temps for cpu to be directly comparable and not have to consider differences in mounting or thermal paste amount. I also adjusted the top fans, I swapped out the rear one with a red led one that I had and have that as exhaust and changed the direction of the front one from exhaust to intake to allow for some cool air to come into the case. Also I pulled out the 2 rear 92mm fans since I don’t have airflow in that direction.
I then added my hard drives to the cages. I have 4 hdd so it was necessary to use both cages. One of them is a backup storage drive and happens to be ide, I was hopping to be able to mount the one cage up in the 5.25 area but was unable to quickly figure out a way to do so and scratched that idea. I may look into doing this later but not caring too much now.
I had started off with the psu in the back slot but after attempting cable management found out that was a bad idea so I moved it to the front slot to allow all my extra cables to get stuffed behind the psu.
Heres a shot of the backside. No holes in the board tray, I’m not ready to drill into a $300 case
At this point I plan on sleeving the cable for the zalman on my vid card, the rear usb bracket and not sure what I’ll do with the pci slot fan and the switch for the UV cathodes. I’m not sure what color to do these, continue with the ogre or go with uv blue sleeve replacing the blue spiral wrap that I have on there for now.
TEMPS:
Old case:
Board 30C
Cpu core 1 22C
Cpu core 2 30C
Vid card 37C
TJ07
Board 27C
Core 1 23C
Core 2 30C
Vid card 35C
Conclusion:
TJ07 is not bad at air cooling…depending on what parts you have. In my situation, my board and vid card temps went down. If I was running sli that could be different but I’ll never know.
I’ll also be replacing the stock fans shortly and attempting to hook them up to my hardcano 13…if I can get that to work. Since my temps are good I plan to stick with similar airflow fans, I don’t know the cfm of the stock ones but I’ll assume its around 35-40. I’m planning on going with some scythe’s, either minebea or s-flex

its not very UV reactive. i'm thinking of switching to orange or normal UV green. at some point i'd also like to replace the top mesh with a 2*120 rad grill, i know that it wont fit right in so i am thinking of using a piece of UV green or blue acrylic. i'd mount the grill to the acrylic and the acrylic to the top of the case on the inside and mount the fans to the acrylic. i'd cut the acrylic to the same patern as the grill, i was thinking of the A.C Ryan stripes grill, i think the hexx grill would look better but theres no way i could cut out the pattern to match. only problem is i dont have money for the parts or a dremel to cut the acrylic. i'd love to powder coat the interior black but thats far from happening $$ wise

) i'll get around to painting or powdercoating the interior black, sleeving the rest of the SATA cables blue, get another set of UV cathodes and maybe a few other things.
