. I could always make an image from the current but, I don't know if I want to do that because I see issues al day with images here at work.

If my board is a x48 board covoered up as a ex38 then I would try flashing to the x48 bios.

I don't advice you to do that ... The mobos are identical for X48 and X38 but the chipsets not. X48 doesn't have ECC, and it's possible that your mainboard will not boot with X48 bios ...

Which board the ex38 dq6 or the x38 dq6? I have the ex and the bios is far from perfect at this point with it. The ex38 I have, is having issues with all the memory settings but, 2.66d and 2.50a. I am on the 2.5a right now with a clock of 3.9Ghz~ "right now". I am trying to beat my old #1 record for single card score on 3dmark which is documented/ my highest clock on my Q6600 with my ramed right now p35 dq6 rev. 1.0 of 4.16Ghz~ with Air which I achived in the Gigabyte Overclocking contest not to long ago...

Anyone with a 45nm CPU be careful if using AUTO voltages in the bios because i just tried it while testing a small overclock and the motherboard set it to 1.59 VOLTS!!!. Way more than it needs and in the dangerous zone.

    I settled on 1.28v

GA-Ex38-ds4 cycle rebooting problem. Ran mushkin ddr2-1066 would cycle reboot without posting to bios every 5 seconds- tried patriot ddr2 800 same effect. With the patriot ddr2 667 it booted and set memory voltage and all is well with any memory. Flashed Back from flaky f3 bios to f2 and mushkin 1066 was seen correctly and booted timings were high 5-7-7-18 instead of 5-5-4-15, but it booted. ALLEN

I have X38-DQ6 with Xeon 3350 (45 nm) , BIOS F8. No problem with the voltage set to auto.Vcore set to 1.14 (no OC 2.66 GHz ) or 1.18 (3.2 GHz OC) - on Auto.

Anyone with a 45 nm CPU, use RealTemp from here:
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/....php?p=2809778

For checking temperature (works now in Vista x64). CoreTemp and Everest shows 10 C more ( wrong Tjmax most likely, as intel keeps this "secret").

    I need some suggestions here.

I can do 4.3Ghz at 1.36v (1.40v in bios) stable. I have water cooling now, i need to update my sig.

However, i can't seem to get anything above that. I tried 4.39ghz up to 1.5v in bios, still a no-go. I have set the FSB and MCH voltage to +0.1v. Nothing helps.

Anyone think of something i can try?

Other than changing straps etc i dont know but how is performance with Xfire 3870? I have 1 3870 and im thinking about getting another. How does it perform in Crysis etc? I'm so impressed with the image quality of 3870 vs Nvidia cards, but it struggles in Crysis a little so does the second card really make a difference.?

i think the drivers still need improving for Crysis, but on High, DX10, 1680X1050, i get 45fps i think on the benchmark. I'm very impressed, i get about 80-90% increase in FPS in most of my games.

Wow im going back for a second one then. X38 and 2 3870's is a cheap way to get high end performance and the image quality is so much better, i was surprised how much better it looks than a Nvidia card.

WOW, Nvidia plan to charge for drivers:
    http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/13...ion/index.html

The new drivers work for ATI 38XX series to but $50 US a year for drivers??. The price we pay for the cards should cover that.

HAHA nevrmind its an April fools thing apparently...wow they did 10 pages for this

Are you kidding?Everyone says there's a«practically no difference between ATI and Nvidia and you say that? What we're you previous GeForce?Since the 8 series the image quality is basically the same

Thats BS mate. Ive had 8800's and the 3870 looks waaaay better. I thought so to until i got one.
8800 GT is definately faster though. I guess its the payoff for extra speed.

try looser ram timings. to get up to 4.6 i needed 1.575 in bios (1.52 actual) so you may acutally need a bit more voltage. If your on water I wouldnt worry about putting bios setting a little above 1.5 (up to 1.55 max for 24/7 i would say)
