All I need is for someone to confirm that there SHOULD be 6 SATA Channels showing there, or not.
And then confirm whether the specific bios version changes anything, in that respect.

OK, thanks for your post. I'll try flashing to bios version 14, and see if that fixes anything. Since my CPU is an E8400, I really need to use 16.b03 or later.

Bios 14 DOES show all 6 SATA Channels for me now. Can anyone comment on any of the 16 beta bios versions? Whether you see all 6 or only 4 SATA Channels under "Standard CMOS Features"?
    Thanks.

Yeah but you don't have your Intel controller set to raid.

vailr, what you're seeing in Standard cmos features is normal if your Intel controller is set to Raid or AHCI. I'm running 16.b04 and see the same as you. Why you can't boot off a sata cd beats me but these bios are beta for a reason.
Do you see your sata optical drive in the Intel bios? If I had one of those I'd test for you, but I don't.

I guess the same error (seeing only 4 SATA Channels under "Standard CMOS Features") occurs with any bios version, whether it's version 16.beta or the latest "official" bios, version 14. So: I'm back to version 16.b10 for now. And still unable to boot from a SATA optical disk, while bios is set in Raid mode.
Is anyone else running a bootable Raid 0 pair (off the Intel Raid controller)? Did you run into the same problem?
I'm thinking that maybe the Intel Raid firmware needs updating. My previous Gigabyte 865-DS3 board included a Raid firmware (for the JMicron raid controller) update as part of a motherboard bios update.

I haven't used 14 in a long time. I take it you're only seeing 1-4 with 14 as well, using raid?

Your not finding your optical drive listed by name in the boot options under '1st, 2nd and 3rd'?

You should find it by name in this list. Select the options for 1st boot device and sata cdrom is for IDE mode only.

Does this board every do the strange double reboot thing that the AB9 series did after changing bios settings?

Well, come summertime there should be some other options. Like the IP45 Pro for one.

Exactly, not sure if the IP45 pro will be DDR3 and the GT3 DD2 or the other way around. But if you're waiting till summer, P45 could be just what the low multi 45nm chips need for maximum OC.

Look at the ddr slots on that pic of the IP45 Pro and you'll see they are ddr2. Compare with the IP45 GT3 which is ddr3.

I just bought 4 gigs of OCZ Platinum XTC 1000mhz for 76 euro delivered So I'm tied to a DDR2 board... the IP45 Pro looks great! Do you think it will handle running the new Quads at 500mhz fsb?

Is the latest beta bios the recommended choice for an E8400? 16B10?

Thanks. Finally figured out how to get the optical drive listed by brand name.
It's kind of non-obvious why that would be required. Anyway, that enabled booting while bios was configured in Raid mode.

When you get them, are you going to try them at a lower-latency or just going straight for speed?
I ask because I'd be interested in how far they'd go at 4-4-4.

I will try tighten the timings a bit when I get them but I will be going for 500mhz fsb 1:1

Im nearly sure they can do 4-4-4-12 at 400mhz

    CE1, EIST, etc.

Just wanted to let any interested parties know that the replacement board is running fine here with the 3060 and 4GB (4x1) that my son donated to yours truly

Not a whole lot tweaking involved and all the power saving features are working at 3.6Ghz - my grandson even put it to sleep accidentally while playing Quake Wars and it came back intact

Anyone have had weird HDD issues with this board? I have had 3 HDDS go slow on me and suddenly dissapear from disk manager and explorer. Amongst one of them a rather new Samsung spinpoint F1. On reboot it would hang at drive detection and I have no choice but to disconnect the HDD. But HDD isn't the problem, hooked up via usb case it works fine. Replaced sata cables, tried diff ports, didn't help.
