When gaming temps would rise by around 5-7c. Temps were pretty much the same before and after I applied some MX 2. The PWM got the biggest improvement though at around 2-3c cooler.

Does having a watercooled setup contribute to higher pwm and NB temps?
Having your CPU water-cooled may be part of why your PWM temps are higher (they are normally higher anyway). With a air cooled cpu, you have a fan that would normally blow air over the pwm to help cool it. Do you have enough exhaust fans in your case? You may have a high ambient temp in the case, if you have bad air flow. I bought an Antec adjustable cooler with a bendable arm to cool the PWM's. Since you have the UT, the heatpipe should equalize the temps across the blocks, so getting the hot air out of the area of the PWM (out of the case) should help the temps for the chipset as well.

I can just about always get into the BIOS after a CMOS clear, but the main prob I'm having is that even though I can Load Optimized defaults, when I save and exit, that first reboot takes me to another 88 code again. I *may* be picking up a couple new HDs today (depending on whether BB has any in stock) so I can try running with another. It is almost as if my board is booting with some phantom bad-oc settings or some such.
Man, I've got the same issue, but I believe mine is a RAM issue. I've loaded Windows VISTA no issues, using the same exact MOBO...It works fine. When I place back into the other DFI alike MOBO, it gives me 88 codes as well. I have the Gigabyte 790FX and the ASUS 790FX model, both bullet proof. This DFI is begininning to look like S#*t.

I noticed that lately I get a single boot (I believe to 26, don't remember), shut -off then boot. Seems rock stable after that. That's my only issue with the board as of yet. (It seems like it does a primary boot to check for stuff, then a real boot)

A double boot from a cold boot is normal for P35, X38 and X48 boards depending on BIOS configuration.

I had figured so, which is why I wasn't too worried about it.

As a temporary workaround I placed 3x40mm fans (my old DIY ram cooler) on top my GPU to help cool the stuff.

Gaming temps now average at around 48c. Idle sits at around 43-45c with an ambient temp of 29c.

The sinks really lacked air flow on the PWM area.

I used 2x120mm side panel intake, and 2x120 front intake. 1x120mm rear and 1x120mm top exhaust. temps are much better now. Will consider the antec spot cool as well.

It's pretty cold in my house too. What could the reason for the differences be?
Don't quote me on this but i would speculate power delivery to a dual core that requires less voltage to a quad core that requires more voltage. He's got a Wolfdale (cooler/less power draw) vs. your Kentsfield (hotter/more power draw).

I get 40C idle and close to 50C under load. Prime95 small FFT i get high 50C load.

So you didn't find the 'chassis enclosure' got too close to the DIMM retention clips? It looks as if it is going to come very close to them and I was worried the back of the enclosure would come into contact with the DIMM clips themselves.

have either the UT p35 or the DK P35 , will they boot right away with an E3110 or E8400 ? or is a new bios update required first?

I don't know if I would bother with a spot cooler if you are down to those temps. Mine sits at 48 right now (idle), and it solves the stability issues. I have a P182, so I had 2 fans right near the PWM, but there was still a dead spot. I think the corner is just a bad area for the PWM's, it's a dead spot in a lot of cases.

I had to jerry-rig the fan to aim at the pwm sink. I've got more work to do on the fans, so we will see if I can lower the temps a little more.

Edit: with fans at 100% (YAY noise!), My PWM area sits at 42-43.

I don't feel comfortable with a DIY RAM cooler sitting on top of my 8800GT. hehehe

I may look for other ways to improve the airflow on the upper part of my case.

Then you may want to use a spot cooler for that. I have a tripple rad on the top of the case, so my ram gets a decent air flow.

Yes they both will boot out of the box with either of those chips.

hmm, I needed a Bios flash from 9/15 to get my LT P35 to boot with my E8400.
With the older Bios it just froze at the first screen.
I disconnected the HDD and used Tmod/Loggan's DFI Bios CD to flash the Bios.

The board needs to have the 11/07 BIOS or newer.

Hmm ok, thought they all had that, mine booted fine on stock bios with both chips. Guess it depends on how long the board has been sitting around which bios you get.

As scarce as these boards have been one would think all current boards would have a newer BIOS version. But never can tell.

Okay Praz I got it a shot yesterday with no luck. I set bios to optimized settings except for voltage settings.

    cpu vid - 1.41v - (e8400)
    dram v - 2.35v (crucial balistic 8500)
    sb - 1.15v
    sb core - 1.55v
    nb - 1.5v
    cpu vtt - 1.20
    gtl
    67
    67
    69
    and I also tried
    gtl
    80
    80
    80

333/667 - 500fsb is my limit maybe a little higher if I'm lucky.

I have performance level at 8

What other dram setting should I relax to see if I can get fsb higher at 1/1?

I think my setup has the potential to run higher than 500fsb 1/1

I am on the 2/14 bios

hmmm,ok thanks for the input... i was wondering if you get the DK P35 right now... will it come with the newest bios that recognizes the e8400 or e3110?

because imagines yourselves if one gets a P35 either LT UT or DK and you'd need a previous 65nm cpu to load new bios... many people would get screwed..

Try not using Optimized Defaults. Clear the BIOS and manually change whatever settings you need to. Set your primary timings 5-5-5-15. Set tRRD and tRTP to 4. Set PL to 9 and enable all 10 phase delays.Leave all other timings on auto. Work you way up to 500 FSB. When you get to 490 FSB or so go up in 5MHz steps. If doing this gets you further check the timings in MemSet.
