under load the vcore will droop (part of intel's spec design)...i get about 0.035 droop under load....each board and cpu is going to be different.

does Cpuz vcore voltage readout fluctuate any?
ok ace but is there any new bios in near future?
    this suck :/

new bios is around the corner but don't hold your breath about setting vcore in the bios or uguru and then getting the same vcore in windows at idle...ain't going to happen...you need to just move on and enjoy the board, which is a SOLID board!

Geatings all...after 192 pages, I'm now thoroughly confused. But I'm excited to ask stupid questions and dazzle you all with my ignorance.
Chuckster, your system seems to be closest to mine.
My Ballistix are the new 2x2Gb double sided (8 modules a side) without clips and yellow (not the new red ones).
My system was just put together and I haven't had the time (or knowledge) to OC yet.

I am still a noob at oc'ing and this is my first real try. Just do lots of reading and go in baby steps. I first oc'ed this system to 400x9 at 1.25 volts v core and a small increase on the mch. 3600 seems pretty easy for most cores to reach so read up and ask all the questions you want!

Does anyone know if the ip35 pro has a TPM chip on it? Been thinking about playing around with bitlocker. I haven't been able to find a solid answer anywhere. Do enthusiast mobos for desktop PCs typically have TPM chips, or are they reserved for more of the enterprise/business class?

Abit still has not fixed the following bios error (running v. 16 b10):
When attempting to boot from a SATA DVD-RW drive connected to either Intel or JMicron SATA port, bootable optical discs cannot boot when the Intel Raid/IDE/AHCI bios selector is set in Raid mode. Switch back to IDE mode, and the optical disc becomes bootable again.
Anyone else encountered this? I ran into this, when the board was newly released about 9 months ago. A workaround solution is: use the set of (6) WinXP SP2 bootable floppies, in order to install onto a Raid 0 pair of hard drives. My old Gigabyte 865-DS3 board didn't have this "boot from SATA DVD-RW drive while bios is set to Raid" problem.

No. The error message is the same as if a blank CD or DVD was in the drive.
It simply refuses to boot. Switch back to IDE mode in the bios, and the disc boots fine. (I'm trying to do a fresh install of WinXP SP3 from a bootable CD).

On second thought: are you referring to a key press that allows selecting from available boot drives? I'm aware of the F8/Safe Mode "Boot Menu". Is there another "Boot Menu", before any hard drive is accessed?

A lot of boards have an option to select a boot device @ POST. Unfortunately, this is not one of those boards; I just rebooted to check.

sata optical drive should be able to boot when you set the bios to run in Raid off the Intel chipset...just make sure you have the DVD drive plugged into sata port 5 or 6...if you have it in 1-4, it will not boot from there.

Unless I am mistaken, SATA ports 5&6 are under control of the JMicron controller chip (which I do not use and normally have disabled). I've already tried enabling the JMicron controller (in IDE mode) and seeing whether the SATA DVD-RW would boot from port 5, which didn't work either.

You are mistaken. JMicron is used for E-SATA.

Ok, you're correct. The JMicron is used for the 40-pin IDE connector and for eSATA. However, the SATA DVD-RW still won't boot from any of the 6 Intel (internal) SATA ports, when the bios is set to Raid mode. I'd like confirmation that anyone else is running into the same problem. Or if using an older IDE DVD-RW on the IDE port would allow booting from an optical disc, while the bios is set to Raid mode?

i would not have told you to use sata ports 5 & 6 if i were not using them myself...have you made sure that you have selected the dvd drive "BY NAME" in the bios when Raid is set for the intel chipset...when you change from IDE to Raid, the sata dvd drive then shows up by name further down on the list...go into your bios to check.

The relevant bios (version 16.b10) settings are:
    under "Standard CMOS Features":
    SATA Channel 1.............None
    SATA Channel 3.............None
    SATA Channel 2.............None
    SATA Channel 4.............None
    ???(no indication for SATA 5 & 6)
Note: the cursor jumps directly from "Time" to "Drive A", skipping over all of the SATA Channels.
Isn't the cursor supposed to stop on each of the SATA Channels also?

    under "Advanced Bios Features":
    First Boot Device.........Floppy
    Second Boot Device.....SATA CDROM
    Third Boot Device........Hard Disk
    Boot Other Device.......Enabled
    Quick Power On Self Test....Enabled

    under "Integrated Peripherals":
    OnChip SATA Device:
    Bus Master.....Enabled
    OnChip SATA Controller....Enabled
    SATA Mode.....Raid

    Onboard PCI Device:
    (All disabled)

SATA ports (connected & working) are:
(bootable) Single HD on port 2
    (bootable) Raid 0 pair on ports 3 & 4
    SATA DVD-RW on port 5

Did I overlook something, in order for SATA Channels 5 & 6 to appear (under "Standard CMOS Features")?

probably if you back the FSB down and then set the 4:5 memory strap, it will work.

I will try with 1:1.2, but if i cant run this thing at 400fsb with ram over 800, i prefer 400x8 1:1 than other configuration with less fsb.

    Thanks Ace.

No, I didn't think that information had any bearing on solving my question.

    Hard Disk Boot Priority:
    1.SCSI-1: Intel Volume0 [Raid 0 pair]
    2.SCSI-0: ST3160827AS [Single Seagate HD]
    3.Bootable Add-in Card

So: can anyone comment on my question concerning what is showing in their bios setup screen under "Standard CMOS Features"?
Do you see 4 or 6 "SATA Channels"?
The Abit IP35-Pro Owner's Manual clearly shows 6 SATA Channels, where my bios setup screen only shows 4 SATA Channels.
Does the screen cursor allow positioning on each separate SATA Channel?
I'm beginning to think my IP35-Pro board may need to be RMA'd back to Abit.

    I'd try two things.

    1) Unhook the sinlge HDD then try to boot from CDrom.
    2) I noticed with some CDroms when choosing to boot from them, it actually has the CDroms name all the way at the bottom of the choice menu. So choose that if its there instead of SATA CDrom.
