If I installed WCG client, and ran benches while CPU was stock, and then OCed. Should I run benches again? Or, will everything eventually adjust themselves?

Seems like Yorkfield is stronger on the FPU...?!
Integer and XP x64 still kicks ass though.
I'm getting some new memory sticks today, when they are installed I'm gonna try changing my clock.
The guys with high integer score seems to use a higher FSB than me (10x400), so I'm gonna try using higher FSB to see what effect that has.

I don't think the increase in integer score can be solely attributed to my Q6600 running 45Mhz more FSB, it's just too much difference (8712 <-> 11791)
I think it's more likely related to the OS used/different client optimization levels (your FPU score is a lot higher than mine, more than the extra cache would give I'd think)
You are right, I now run 9x445 instead of 10x400, and the scores are basically the same.
So I guess the BOINC client isnt optimized for 64-bit Vista.

Ok, overclocked my e8400 too 3,6Ghz on the p5e-vm hdmi board, ram running 1000 vistax64 ultimate sp1 by upping the bus speed to 400, did not increase voltage(i believe it was at auto)

Coretemp shows the temps to over 60-61 degrees celsius, its a htpc, is it safe to run at this temp?
It was running at just over 50 degrees at stock. Is coretemp even correct with wolfdale?

ran into a wall with my ram....it's stock speed is 400fsb, and right now I'm running (stable) at 457, 1.85vdimm, 5-5-5-10....but when I push the fsb to 472 they fail stability, even if I bump the vdimm up to 2.1, loosen timings to 5-5-5-15, bump the vtt, nb, sb all up one notch...I don't understand how that much adjustments can't push another meager 15mhz, I must be missing something, but I don't know what
my cpu is stable at 7*472(3.3ghz)

@ 3.4, 486mhz
set vtt, nb, sb volts back to default, took a little bump on vcore, and set ram timings to 'auto' (not spd, tho)....just as a "let's see what happens" feeling.....cpuz says my rams are running 4-5-5-15....stable....I would LOVE to hear an explanation if anyone has one about this
that's all the testing I can do today, gotta get to work![]()

Will a cpu overclocked by 20% yield 20% more in boinc?
I couldnt help it, overclocked both e8400 too 3,6ghz,1600fsb(20%), but how much does this matter in boinc?
An overclocked CPU will yield more points per day. But it's difficult calculating how much more because BOINC uses a two-step process.
You can read more about the points system here.

SB do you know which BOINC score is more important to WCG output, FPU or Intreger? It seems that XP x64 is better on the integer, while Vista 64 is stronger on the FPU...
Floating point tends to be more important. It's a better indicator of the real computing power of your PC. The integer results on some operating systems, especially Linux, are inflated. With Kubuntu x64 I did 15,000+ in the Dhrystone test. That was with an Intel dual-core running at 3.6GHz.

Ok... but I don't think my integer score is fake or too high, since it's the same with every new boinc version and others have similar results. So it must have some effect?!
Just trying to decide which OS is best for my Dual Harpertown cruncher... Maybe I'll try Win Server 08.
