The one thing I'm worried about is because the heatpipes are staggered, the HDT is stagger as well.
But Xigmatek is definitely refreshin, pushing for the top spot. When will we see 6 heatpipe HDT? : P

Frostytech is strange. They have a TRUE being beaten by a TRU

Intel's atom is a terrible chip.
They used two different fans, one they couldn't find the specs for.
My 1283 experience has it 6c better than a freezer7 pro......pretty good but not the worldbeater some reviews have claimed.
*Though I may have over-appled the AS5*
1283 not a world beater but a great budget cooler......certainly worth the £18 I paid.

That's what I had thought initially.
But I have reservations of the stock fan on the 1284, it is much weaker than the one used on the 1283. I never use stock fans anyway, if I can, I'll change it out for my modded +90CFM ones and just leave it at 5V. My GPUs make more noise than they ever could. But the stock fan on the 1283 was very good IMO anyway but doubt very much this would be.
Haha, this is exactly the position I'm in!
My old one was damaged, some girl I "know" threw it out of the 6th floor flat balcony
New one just arrived 2 weeks ago, with a 152CFM Delta at 5V 860RPM, it works great.
Scan will have them in soon, I'll try getting a date. They'll be first and official in UK. The one they show yet is a 1283, the old one, the new one is prefixed by "Achilles" and "1284" just so you can distinguish easier. [edit, LNV got there before me].
Bear in mind though, for £22, the 1283 is a very good buy, it is no slouch at all. Note though, there is another HDT-D1284 from Xigmatek which is not this one, it is worse than the 1283 and a different design.
Here's the XIGMATEK HDT-D1284 and Scythe ZIPANG reviewed where the ZIPANG beat the TRUE inside a case: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coo...-hdtd1284.html
You'll see the other new Xigmatek there.![]()

I dont think we have to worry too much. The S1283 is still a good cooler well worth its price. To be honest I think the Icehammer coolers posted by angelreaper will perform better than both s1283 and 1284 (achilles). If they are to relese them outside of russia at a resoneble price I will sure get me one of those
