well the 1283 and TRUE are basically tied

I think the 1284 will edge out the TRUE

There's a coupon code for Newegg through HardForum that allows you to get the 1283 for $37 shipped through April 14th. Hopefully some information about the 1284's pricing (or a review?) will surface before then.

there wouldn't be any difference at 1.328vcore i don't think. i'm pretty sure you'd see a difference at 1.4+

yeah I would think so too, for that kind of vcore, not enough heat to let the 4pipes design shine.

Is this heatsink mounted with push pins or a backplate?

i think a bolt thru kit is available for 1283...anyway i'm not keen on pushpins otherwise this could be nice if the price is kept low like the 1283

so far all the xigmatek's are pushpin mounted. the thermalright 775 bolt through kit works well as a replacement though.

that's essentially the thermalright bracket. this one would work a little better since the brackets retain the springs a little better. might be a little harder to find though.

Where did you get that info?

Do you have a link to a anything that I could use to request it, vs just sending them an email and asking for a free bolt-on kit for my cooler?

Edit:
I found this, but it states in the post that it was only thru the end of Feb that you could get the free kit.

S1284 is not better than S1283, because the surface of the HSI on LGA775 CPU's can't cover the hole cooler surface. It covers 2,1/2 pipes, for example
That is not exactly the S1284 surface (D1284's), but the size is the same.

the heat is still being transferred through the heatpipes. the IHS doesn't need to cover the whole base.

The results shows difference.
And in that case what is the point of HDT?

Cleaning that base is gonna be a nightmare!...the spaces between the heatpipes will get filled with TIM and it will be very difficult to remove later.

Why is the CPU not centered better?...shirley the TIM square should be dead center, not on the upper part of the base??

hmm i would tend to agree that seems like its pointless or more marketing imo..maybe we'll see more results but it seems like they should have maybe went to a slightly smaller diam heatpipe so they were fully covering the cpu better..

unless the 964 base is bigger than the 1284's i don't understand that picture. my 964 covers my Q6600's IHS 100%.

right, which would mean more flat surface area on the 1284. therefore, if the IHS fits flat on the 964, then it should easily sit flat on the 1284.
