    Hi, mate. I just saw your settings for overclock. Amazing. Your system is very simmiar to mine - E8400 + 01.09 BIOS + DFI P35 UT T2R. I have some questions ?

    What's your maximum overclock for 24/7 ? What's the maximum Orthos time running you get ? Thanks

    I was looking for voltage setting and probably I'll try yours. Without voltage I get up to 3440 stable but I want 4000

    Is this the BIOS mod you are wanting? I was going to do this myself but ran into a problem. The only BIOS I could find with this ROM version was AMI. I have no tools to extract modules from these. I got a hold of a friend and sent him the AMI BIOS. He was able to extract the RAID ROM, modify it for Award BIOS compatibility and put it in the 03/17 BIOS. As you can see the board flashes fine with this BIOS. I have not tried to create an actual array however. If anyone wants to give it a try I'll upload it. But you do so at your own risk.

    I am sure either me or Cantankerous will give it a shot Praz. Lod 'er up and we will give the verdict. As always, great work Praz

    AH YES!

    That is the exact one I am speaking of. As far as I know that is the most recently bios from Intel for the ICH9R. As far as I could tell from searching around before Christmas, other board manufacturers were already on this which made me wonder why DFI wasn't. I will be honest, I have no means of recovery as I am only a single bios. I am a bit worried about this but I really am tempted to flash anyways since every other flash I ever did was well, and I do fully trust that you know what you are doing. One thing I am wondering. I am not into creating a new array, but using one already created on the older and current 7.5.0.1017. Do you feel an array already created will still play nice on the 7.6.0.1011? I can't thank you enough for this, the time you spend to help others is greatly appreciated.

    Guys, some word of advice. I will probably get 2 gigs of Ballistix's 8500 so is 12/14 bios any good and is there a need for an update, and what are the scores i should expect with them?
    Tnx.

    12/24 is great, no issues whatsoever. However the newest 2/14-3/17 is at least as good. You are not losing anything performance or stability wise from using the later bioses. I found 2/14 and 3/17 to play just as well as 12/24 which was a great bios for me when it was released.

    @Praz: I finally got around to trying your method of C1E/Auto/Special. It is just fantastic! My computer spends the vast majority of its time at idle, so I am now effectively running at a MUCH lower voltage/temperature 24-7. When frequencies/voltages do spin up at load, I am finding that I am actually able to REDUCE my vcore and still run stably! Furthermore, this method has solved an annoying little problem that I have been having. When I manually set my vcore to anything above 1.4v in BIOS, every restart is catastrophic, and forces a CMOS clear. This is not the end of the world with CMOS Reloaded, but definitely a pain in the triple banana. Now restarts are flawless!

    THANKS AGAIN!

    @cantankerous, Praz, Brother Esau:
    would a DFI nF4 BIOS chip (first line 49LF004B) work in a hotflash capacity in place of a T2R BIOS chip (first line 49LF008A)? I have a dead Expert board that I keep around for spare parts. If so, I would be willing to test out the modded BIOS later this week and let you know whether it requires rebuilding the RAID array. I have some important things to do with my computer early this week and can't afford the time to reinstall; after that, it would be no big deal. Let me know.

    Edit: the nF4 chip will NOT work - 4GB versus 8GB. Thanks Brother Esau! I will be trying the modded BIOS ca. Thursday and will report back regarding RAID array reconstruction.

    what is the normal temp for the PWM and Chipset?

    I just applied some MX2 on the chipsets and PWM.

    my current settings are the following

    NB = 1.37v (BIOS)
    450FSB
    333/667
    ambient 30c

    I usually get an average of 51c with the above settings. Thanks

    PS: Or am I getting such temps because of the lack of airflow on the sinks?

    Your settings seem about right. With ambients in the early 20c range I get early to mid 40's when idle. When gaming it hits late 40's to early 50's but heavy stress testing in a hot room easily sees into the 60's.

    I also have higher PWM temps and I have an 80 mm fan sitting on top of the heatsink.
    mid 30's at idle (using the "C1E/Auto/Special" method) and low 40's under load.
    It's pretty cold in my house too. What could the reason for the differences be?

    Ok, an update to Praz's modded 3/17 with later RAID ROM Bios. I have just successfully flashed my board with this after confirmation that it was also successful from a flash by Turtletrax. All I did was edit one of the autoexec batch files from a previous release to flash this new one. It went it first time, posted first time, listed the new version during post and Vista loaded from the array that was created on the previous 7.5.0.1017 without issue. The only thing I haven't confirmed through testing is the creation of an array from scratch but seeing as though everything else is working exactly as should I can't see this as a problem.

    Thank you once again Praz for your time and work. Thank you ixtapalapaquetl for your effort in flashing your board with this version. Be rest assured you won't have to wait till Thursday now as it works just fine. And of course, thank you Damon for being the guinea pig on this as well.

    Only thing I am wondering about. If anyone is running 2/14 or 3/17 that is NOT modded can you kindly list your AHCI ROM bios? Not the RAID one? I think when the 7.6.0.1011 RAID ROM bios was flashed it also changed the version of the AHCI ROM. I cannot prove it as I am not flashing back to compare, but the version number seems different on that too. Anyone care to list what theirs is reading so I can compare it to mine after this modded bios flash?

    Pulled the AHCI Rom out of both bios and compared both are the same on the 2/14 and 3/17 and they are the same as the modded bios, no difference.

    ok loggan26, thanks for the confirmation. I have had two others confirm version 1.03.00 which is the same as mine is reading. I guess I am just being gay. It looked 'odd' to me but I couldn't know for sure. At least we know that hasn't changed. I just had a hunch that perhaps those two version numbers were linked and using Praz's modded 3/17 with updated RAID ROM may have also changed the AHCI version without even realizing it.

    Have you tested out your raid to make sure your getting no errors, have you moved around large files, or zipped down large files to make sure there are no errors................sometimes using a raid array built on another rom version will show little errors.................it would still be interesting for someone to confirm they have built an array on the new version.................

    My room currently is blazing hot at 34c. Its a summer noon time here. My PWM and Chipset sits at 55c and 57c respectively.

    Are they just within normal operating temps? I tried running the AC last night, my ambient were around 24c PWM and Chipset would idle at around 45 and 47c respectively.

    When gaming temps would rise by around 5-7c. Temps were pretty much the same before and after I applied some MX 2. The PWM got the biggest improvement though at around 2-3c cooler.

    Does having a watercooled setup contribute to higher pwm and NB temps?

    Hi there. No problems to mention at all. Mind you, I did not create an array from scratch but using the same array created on 7.5.0.1017 is showing to be working exactly the same. I am running 2 X 150GB Raptors on this array and Vista boots fine, games boot fine, torrents are constantly downloading and uploading in the background etc with no issues. I have HDD Health installed and checking over the past 2 days there has been no SMART errors creeping up etc. I would say it is good to go really.
