hmm tested yesterday running at 450.. NB around 1.41v for 900mhz CL3-4-3-9 trd 6...
NB temps on passive cooling ( not really cause its touching my coolitfreezone block.. lucky ) only 29C.. in freaking malaysia..similar with maximus on water would get around 38C.
hey somebody told me that the x48 are 65nm while all the 3 series are 90nm..
Okay guys im looking to get my first DFI board, having to import it from Motherboard PRO so i must get my purchase right first time!
Been looking at the X38 varient and its great as the layout suits me with PCI-E 16X graphics slot is highest up it can go means i dont need to move my HD rack then!
Was prompted recently by my friend that a X48 DDR2 varient exists i was like...![]()
![]()
But then i see it does exist!, so why not get the higher Binned chipset then if its only $20 more!... but then i see the layout has the PCI-E graphics slot down a peg.. which is no use to me.....
But then i find there is two versions of the DDR2 Varient... LT and UT... actually theres more then a cooling difference between the two the layout of slots changes too!!
LT http://www.dfi.com.tw/Upload/Product...R_front(b).jpg
UT
http://www.dfi.com.tw/Upload/Product...%20X48-T2R.jpg
So the LT for layout purposes is the one i need to get!... can someone please confirm that the picture is correct and the top PCI-E 16X slot is in the very top location?

DFI does not have a DDR2 board that looks like this:

If you get a DDR2 board it will look like this:

I spoke with someone @ DFI about this because it really pissed me off when I ordered my x48 T2R thinking I would have enough room by the NB for a good cooler, only to come to find out that it will not because they screwed up the pics.

how does this motherboard work with quads and how do you compare it with the asus boards?Which is better?
I am asking because I will build a setup with a QX9650 and I am not decided on the motherboard
So whats the word on this board you guys like it???![]()

The LT does in fact have the x16 PCI-E slot at the very top, with the short 1x slot right below it.
The Enzotech SNBW-SLI block does Not afford 100% coverage,I'd say about 85% is correct. If it was square it would be better, however the heart of the heat is in the center and it handles it just fine.
The block itself is small and having the ability to swap the mounting plate around rather easily is a major plus to me. That means in my situation that I get a bit better air flow to the rear sink on the pwm's. Now to find a block to fit that.

My concern is the following:
I am planning to buy a QX9650.Is this board good for quads or not?
I am also going to pair it with a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme.Does it fit if it has that custom cooler on the NB?
How does it work with 4x1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR1000?I already have the Ram and I do not want to have any problems.
The DFI offer for X48 seems very interesting and I am asking the professionals what should I buy.

As has already been noted the linked picture is not representative of the UT X48 DDR2 board. If I was wanting a DDR2 version of the X48 chipset I would be ordering what is presently available (LT X48) and not waiting on a future product that may or may not see the light of day.

Nope it really is as close to correct as what 'praz' said above. LT X48 version if you want one now for sure.Originally Posted by Psycho_eddie

Thanks for that...![]()
Both UT and LT boards have same layout as i have found out... my question now is as both have same layout...
What other features does the UT offer over the LT? differences?
Also only wanted to clarifiy if UT was even stocked yet... if its not then has to be LT...

Correct me if i'm wrong here but the UT has different cooling and a heat pipe and the LT is what most of the members here get since they'll be taking off the extra cooling anyway.
There was an initial batch of LT x48's to motherboardpro.com and i managed to pick one of those up. I'm not sure what the availability is on them now thou.

How does this DFI X48 card act with 4x1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR1000?
Thanks in advance.
Any confirmation of the tuniq tower fitting? cause ive ordered the board and about to order the cpu and cooling, and would really like to know what fits...
I also want the confirmation with the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme after the confirmation with the DDR2 Ram
So I just ordered this board on saturday morning from motherboardspro and ordered a x3350 Xeon from excaliburpc (Q9450 equivalant). They both said they had stock in so Im hoping I will see that they ship tomorrow. Im excited to see how you all will make out with your quad setups on this board. Be sure to post your results.
Thanks
I have the board but I'm waiting on my Thermalright U120E. I hope it fits or I'm in trouble =)

Does a table for GTL tweaking exist for 45nm CPUs?...similar to the one linked earlier for 65nm CPUs? I am getting this board this week and don't know anything about how to set the GTL values for my E8400...most people are saying it should be between 60-67 but some people here have it higher and it seems to be working. Also, the GTL settings only work in relation to VTT correct? Meaning the GTL settings should only be adjusted as you adjust VTT.
On the DFI boards, it seems, that if you can get these values down right, your OC becomes much much more stable.
