    i tried 1.41 checked the pin 1.34
    i tired 1.49 checked the pin 1.34

loaded my OC profile with 1.41 set, checked the pin says 1.419, so it, ain't the NB i'm reading apparently

it's a weird coincidence it gave me the same voltage than what i had set in my OC profile

Have you tried EZ-Flash built right into the bios? I never had problems flashing with that!! Try EZ-Flash in the bios using a USB thumb drive.

I believe you can also flash using a DOS utility called AFUDOS. However, because the bios is 2MB and won't fit on a floppy, you will need a blank usb flash drive and make it bootable. You can make it bootable using this utility (you will also need to download the Win98 DOS System files (link provided on the page). It says this is optional, but in fact is required under WinXP:

HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool : http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=197

Document (Read!): AFUDOS BIOS Update Procedure (last doc on the page dated 2007/03/07)
    http://support.asus.com/technicaldoc...Language=en-us

DOS Flash Utility: AMI BIOS flash utility (version 2.29)
    http://support.asus.com/download/dow...map&mapindex=1

Step by Step Instructions on the Net with pictures:
    http://www.ecs.com.tw/extra/flashutl/afuusb.pdf

NOTICE: I have not personally flashed the bios on the P5E using this method. But I would use a DOS flash before I would ever use a windows flash method. The EZ-Flash in the bios is the safest method.

I was looking at a thread on the Maximus Fomular, and it hit me that my P5E came with an MF bios installed. I didn't notice it at that time, but the memory came back to me when I looked at the MF bios screen shot. I updated the bios because it didn't recognized E8400.

I flashed back to 501 and 500 FSB is easy as before. Looks like 602 is optimized for Wolfdales, but Conroe compatibility is suffering.

Downgrade bios through asusupdate v61002 (wont work with windows Vista 64bit OEM @ DELL )

ez-flash only revert to bios with same series (05xx to 05xx or 06xx to 06xx)

i also want to downgrade to bios 0107 (only bios i can use memory divider 4:5) and i cant...................

I have NEVER had a problem reverting back to an older BIOS regardless of the version, 601 -> 501 for example. There is an OPTION in ASUS UPDATE that will allow you revert back to an older BIOS. I'm not at my PC at the moment, otherwise I would walk you trough the screens.

Seriously tho, there are not a whole lot of options so it should be an easy find.

I know how to config asusupdate to dowgrade ( just go to options and check downgrade bios)

But the only version of Asusupdate that let you downgrade its 61002 , and that version wont work with my windows Vista 64bit (NT problem @ No Asus motherboard found)

I just ordered the P5E from Newegg to replace my P5K Deluxe, when another Crucial Ballistix 6400 module died (3 now out of 4 have died now).

I thinking it's time to jump on 8500 memory and forget Crucial, but what's seems to be the best for this board.

I see alot of you are using G.SKILL:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231166

Or should I stay with Crucial:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148183

    Any suggestions?

    I currently run a G0 Q6600 @ 3.4ghz stable

So I'm testing the RAM some more, and I swapped the sticks from slots 1&3 to 2&4. Very minor improvement in the RAM itself but check out the L2 results:

    Before (slots 1 & 3)

    After (slots 2 & 4)

I'm guessing I should keep the RAM in 2&4, or is that not a good idea?

That's interesting indeed. i've changed my modules to 2&4 and I have some latency improvements, but nothing compare to that. Only 0.6ns. Will test with the same divider and FSB of yours. What BIOS are you using BTW? 501?

Well, default voltage is not enough for 3.6 on a Q6600. Just how much voltage you need is a trial and error process with that chip, as different batches require different amount of Vcore. Check the Q6600 Overcolck thread and see if your batch is listed there, it may give you a better idea of where to start.

Yes, I'm on Bios 501. I tried 602, but I hit an FSB limit at around 490mhz, so I flashed back to 501. The screenshots are consistent, I ran the tests 15 times on each configuration and the L2 results are always the same.

I've been testing it with BIOS 602 with no luck, always same perfomance as in your first screenshot. What are your BIOS options regarding RAM perfomance? Static Read Control, Transaction Booster, etc. A MemSet SS would help

Can someone help me with getting my 2x2Gb G.Skill PC8000 kit working on this board. I'm having hella issues trying to get it to post running close to 1000Mhz.

Currently, I've got it going at:
    Q6600 3.55Ghz (390x9), 1.6v BIOS
    P5E, BIOS 502
RAM: 468Mhz (5:6 devider), 5-5-5-15, all other timings Auto, 2.1v BIOS (measures the same via DMM. My board appears to be an oddity in that it doesn't seem to over-volt the RAM at all).
All other voltage Auto, PCIe and CPU spread spectrum disabled, Loadline Calibration Disabled.

So it POSTs fine on those settings, and MemTests fine, but as soon as I push it up to the 4:5 devider, it flat out refuses to POST. It won't even beep, just the fans will spin, HDDs and optical drives start to spin up, then nothing. Tried different slots and different RAM order, and even just one stick, still nothing.

So what am I missing? The fact that it'll run just fine and dandy on the 5:6 divider makes me pretty sure that it's not dud RAM, but what could it be?

I tried lowtcell's settings above (or as near as I could figure comparing his MemSet to the BIOS options), and still nada.

Well, mine is a bit different since I'm running a 1333mhz CPU, but I do have a G0 Q6600 coming later this week, so I will be testing to see what I can do with it. My feeling is that I will be in the same boat as you are. I have had the no posting problem same as yours if I set RAM to anything other then DDR667 or DDR800 before raising the FSB. That's why I'm running the CPU at 3400 and not higher. You may want to try the 602 Bios as there are more RAM clock options then in 501/502.

Karl, drop your multi to 8, and push the fsb up to like 451-461, i am running 8gb of the Gskill/1000, and have mine set daily at the 5/6 divider, runnin the ram a bit over 1100, think its like 1108 or so, you wont need 1.6 for your proc either, or at least mine didnt, use 1.575/1.50, and 1.5 on cpu pll, try 1.55/57 on the norhtbridge, gtl settings at .60 cpu/.56 northbridge...

Hope this helps, also remember that the GTL volts should be amost 20% of whatever you have cpu/norhtbridge set to, or that is at least how i read into it...

    Eller

its the divider 4:5 , only work with Bios 0107

    i have same config as you (q6600 + 2x2GB 8000PQ)

when i had Bios 0107 no problem using 4:5

i flash with Bios 0602 and now wont even post using 4:5 ( same thing with all other bios )

I cant revert to bios 0107 because asusupdate 61002 wont work with my vista 64bit and through AZ flash tou cant revert neither to bios 0107

so Now with bios 0602 only solution is using 5:6 divider , now i have : 425x8 and memory @ ddr 1020mhz

    regards

I thinking it's time to jump on 8500 memory and forget Crucial, but what's seems to be the best for this board.

I see alot of you are using G.SKILL:

Or should I stay with Crucial:

    Any suggestions?

    I currently run a G0 Q6600 @ 3.4ghz stable
I've used Crucial Ballistix myself and all 4 sticks went bad. And it's not an isolated problem, if you read the forums you'll find that a lot people run through the same problem. They oc like crazy, stable and after a few months they die one by one. I just got the replacements, it took a month to exchange, and it's on Ebay right now.
Luckly my local Fry's had Corsair Dominator 8500 2x1 for $50 after AR. I don't know if they oc well because I didn't try, but at least it's guaranteed to run 1:1 when I get my e8400. Plus, they look cool.
