managed to get 4x 1066 1GB EPP modules. so 4GB running 1066 5-5-5-15 with 1.8V fully stable with a revised SPD im workin on...again tRFC was key.
Will try to post pics tomorrow, also posted over at the EVGA forum asking them to add tRFC to bios.
These boards could be some much more if they had all the tweaks for the end user to play with

Pretty sure the Striker 2 has NB temp readouts man, maybe ya everest software or co doesn't support it...
Building a rig based on this mobo right now.
What's the best bios to use with an E8400 ? I have to redo the heatpipe, temps over 75°C on idle ( lol ) just installed windows added an extra fan that kept temps around 65°C level... but I've seen better here...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved
Remark : They call me Pro AsusSaaya yupp, I agree
your probably right, ive been testing 5 different mb's in the last 2 weeks so i cant keep them straight.. lol
i probably shouldnt have even posted anything but i was trying to help the guy out.. all 5 mb's ive tested are completely different so i couldnt remember but it sure seems like i couldnt find nb temps in windows with the striker II but i dont have it anymore so your probably right (although as you said maybe its just the version of everst im using)..
as for bios i only used the 9650 with that mb so i had to use the new beta bios.. 1001 i believe.. but from what ive read since your using the e8400 dual core you should have alot more luck than i did with quadcore.. atleast for me the strikerII and yorkie quadcore wasnt all that much fun

PS3-used mostly for bluray and media server
if anyone's interested, i took the 3x Raptors out of RAID 0 and disconnected power and just left one running and bingo, OCCT stable at 475*8! next step is see if the 3 drives plugged in cause the problem (not enough power) or if putting them in raid causes the problem (mobo is too weak).
Feedback welcome.

What size is your power supply? More important, how much power can the rails deliver (Amperage)??
how old is your power supply???

I have an Enermax Noisetaker EG710AX-VE(W) (24P). It's 600W and 35A total.
It's about 3 years old.
I was thinking to replace it with this, but not sure I'm getting the best bang for my buck.

Firstly, Thanks to GAR for his excellent guide.
OK I am wanting to know how to ensure MEDIASHEILD drivers are uninstalled.
ie. I was getting a random nvgts.sys error and yes I have a SATA DVD-RW, even at stock settings.
What I have done in an attempt to uninstall mediasheild is run the setup from original disk (XFX 780i v9.46) and de-selected mediasheild. Installer then said it would uninstall current drivers then install chipset drivers upon reboot.
Upon reboot it did not automatically install the chipset drivers but I was getting 'new hardware found' indicating the chipset drivers were successfully unistalled.
I then proceded to install the chipset drivers from disk minus mediasheild drivers.
Does this method ensure mediashield drivers are NOT present on my system ?

Im confused. I see everyone using Everest to monitor MCP temps, but all i have that even could possibly resemble the MCP is a sensor called Auxilary. I have the latest downloaded from Everest's webpage, and i have a license code that i've activated. I dont see MCP![]()

As far as I know the only Everest versions that are 780i capable are beta builds. I've used 4.20.1257 Beta and now 4.20.1285 Beta. There have been some newer version but I haven't tried them.
This is the latest beta version that I found on the Everest forum.

Hi all, I have just purchased this board and a Q6600 CPU.
I have read almost the whole of this thread, and being the noob that I am, haven't found an actual step by step guide to O/clocking?
The graphics card is self explanatory, although the CPU is not.
All I did was up the FSB in BIOS, I'm guessing there is other stuff I have to do, but all I can get my Q6600 to is 2.61. Any higher and it won't boot.
You guys talk of 3.2 and 3.4 etc. How the hell do you get to those speeds considering this CPU is suposed to be a great o/clocker.
It is the SLACR G0 version.
Any help in a step by step guide would be much appreciated!!!!!
Cibby.
