Great! Another 4ghz 24/7 on the same chip is encouraging. Hopefully the 780i will cooperate.

I don't know if I'll be able to bench it today... I've got a ton of other work to do, but I'll get to it certainly sometime in the next couple of days. Prime screens will be forthcoming

Okay, I finally popped in my Quad and VID is 1.2000V. Is that good or bad? So far I only OCed it to 3Ghz (9x333), seems to be stable running SuperSI. Got a really bad score of 17m 44.360s in 32M and 17.203s in 1M. It's losing to my P5B Deluxe with the E8400. I get a score of 17m 03.873s and 16.021s respectively.

VID 1.20 is nice...but you really need to run Prime95
And superPI just use one core. Bench with nuclearus and you'll see where 4 is better hehehe

I just picked a Q6600 up at Microcenter yesterday.

    Batch#

    L743B215

Anyone have any experience with these? I saw a couple people with L743A steppings, but no B steppings. I haven't had a chance to boot it up yet, since I need to order some tubing for my water cooling setup.

jcn....I have to agree with rbsmontemor. I went up to 355 x 9 using 1.200 Vcore ser in the bios, and I was superpi32mb stable. Now running 4 instances of orthos made my system reset after just 10 seconds.

What does VID actually do to the OCing of this CPU? As I've seen, most people have their VID as 1.2245V, 12225V, etc, etc. Mine is exactly 1.2000V, what does it (smaller or bigger number) tell me?

I don't think he refers to vcore. I think he meant VID, which is totally different from vcore. As for Orthos, I can't seem to be able to stress core 3 and 4, even two instances. Is there a configuration I have to set?

VID is the voltage it takes the cpu to run at stock speeds. The general consensus among overclockers is that the lower the VID, the higher you should be able to overclock the cpu and at less voltage.

I just got my ds5 back from RMA and ive been experimenting with undervolting my cpu as im too lazy to stick the watercooling back on it after my gtx died. Just to clarify. The "vid" is the minimum voltage required to run a processor at its rated speed? If that is the case then my VID is only 1.05. This seems pretty crazy i know but its 4 real. Does that mean i have a "better than average" q6600? I wish i had a ss so i could really push this chip.

You're getting VID with actual voltage mixed up.

VID is a value written within the CPU's internal settings that identifies the actual voltage it should run at to guarantee 100% successful and stable operation. It will always be higher than the actual voltage your motherboard supplies under load because Intel knows most motherboards have vdroop. In some cases this can be very big, even 0.2V hence why they specify a higher VID to counter measure this (maintain a margin of error so the actual voltage supplied by the motherboard is still high enough to ensure stable operation).

Would 68-70C on full load be considered too hot for a G0 Q6600? running 450*8 with 1.360V, seems to run prime fine but wondering if I should just back off a little.

Ahh now I understand Cheers for the clarification. So how do people actually monitor their VID?

I have my Q6600 G0 at 3.6 GHZ with 1.2875 volts and it only ran Prime95 for 1 hr 15 mins before screwing up. So I tried to up the voltage, but Vista bluescreens. WTF? I'm running it on a GA-p35-DS3R. It was prime stable at 3.2 ghz for hours on end, but now i'm getting errors. In-game it's fine, and it stays below 40C, but i get errors. Any advice?

What should be the max vtt for ocing q6600 on 680i? Do these like a lot of vtt or should it stay low? Should I crank it to the max 1.5 to get the max oc?

Anything more than stock and it won't boot. I get blue screen. It's extremely aggravating. 1.29 and it won't boot. I think it's my motherboard.
