Oh man that looks great...except I'm still not thrilled with the price of 4GB of DDR3 (binned at decent speeds)

Perhaps a DDR2 version will become available?

It supports 3-way CFX cards, but id have preferred it if the 3rd PCI-E slot and the bottom PCI slot were swapped around.

Will DFI be fast to market with this one??? Ooooh! If the price is right........

Horrible layout of the PCI-E slots.

Why can't they just cut down and include TWO PCI slots? Jeeze....

Its funny how they blur out the coolers like no one knows what they look like. We have all seen this cooling implementation now haha.

It may just be more likely that the coolers are not the final design. I know with both the P35 and X38 models, the boards were both delayed due to the cooling designs taking longer than originally planned.

Did you read the specifications about X48? It's ICH9.

ICH10 will be paired with P45.

Article said ICH10 in about 5 different places explicitly. It's not like a single word flub. X48 is coming out later than originally expected. It's not impossible that as an added incentive to just getting a better binned NB, Intel has the ICH10 paired with it. I mean, otherwise 99.9% of the public would not even consider X48. No way Intel has an overclocker-only chipset variation. I could absolutely be wrong, but given the fact that what everyone knows (including about the Intel release dates) is typically based on third hand leaks and threads like this one posted by "insider knowledge" people, I'll bet it's better than even it will have ICH10.

    Hehe didn't read it

Perhaps they did get the new ICH working with the X48, if this is true then that's just one more reason to go to the X48.

lets hope to god they actually release a ddr3 board this time.

sick of seeing them, but never releasing them.

ICH10 is PCI free, and the board has 3 PCI as I can see. If it is indeed ICH10 they would need and extra chip for the PCI slots, and this is very unprobable. The southbridge heatsink is wide and maybe that chip is below it, but the P35-T2R one is the same and doesn't have the extra chip. I keep thinking the board uses the standard ICH9 and ICH10 will be available when P45 arrives.

That can be true, but I just can't see the "incentive" of using X48 with ICH10. What does ICH10 bring? More USBs, more SATA connectors, and completely legacy free. If X48 is supposed to be an overclocking chipset, OC guys don't care much about I/O conectivity IMO. And look a few post above, they said that the board's digital PWM will bring enough current to AMD quad core processors. I think they are wrong in both cases, when they say it uses AMD quad core CPUs and when thay say it uses ICH10 southbridge.

BTW that PCI-E layout sucks badly. Board makers will never learn...
