When i emailed DFI about this they responded saying that Angry_Games spoke negatively about a product instead of consulting them so they dropped him. Whether or not this is accurate information i don't know as there is always two sides to a story. DFI Club is the new place to go for official support.

I had some small issues with vdroop on my E8400 but nothing drastic. I'd lose .03v or so under load which isn't much, but I wanted to keep the core voltage as low as possible and I was fighting with an E8400 that didn't like to do 4ghz with less then 1.45v.
I did the vdroop mod as described here:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...4&postcount=12
It made a very noticeable improvement and I would recommend it to anyone looking to stabilize their core voltages provided they're handy with a soldering pen. I'm pretty sure I could remove this mod cleanly enough you wouldn't even be able to notice it for RMA purposes if something unrelated dies on it.

You can get the latest version of uGuru (3.107 right now) from here:

And it appears from others users feedback that this version works in Vista 64 bit. You might have to boot up with the unsigned drivers option to get it installed properly.

So I'm pretty much frustrated with my board + e8400 right now, but maybe my expectations are too high ( I mean I only have a 1ghz OC)
I've been running 4.0ghz for over a week now, but I'm not satisfied, because it takes me such a high voltage to maintain any sort of stability. I've been reading the 8400/8500 OC thread, and I'm quite worried about degradation--even if it's not true.
My main problem with my board, I believe is voltage drop. I'm using the beta 9 bios, and I get such a huge drop. I'm running 1.395v in Bios and the longest I orthos'd (small ffts) for was 2 hours without error, I never went beyond that because of degradation fears, @ 1.385 vCore I error at 30 minutes.
According to CPU-z and uGuru, in windows I'm at 1.37 core and at load it drops down to 1.34. I know that some drop is normal, but that just seems extreme. And it seems that everyone else is hitting 4ghz as much lower voltages.
According to uGuru: I Idle at 24*C and at full load hit 44*C.
Perhaps I have a bad chip, and my question is better suited for the e8400 thread. I apologize if that's the case.
I tend to think, it's something I'm doing wrong though. Since I've been out of the game for a while.
I'm using the system in my sig and my bios settings include:
e8400 batch#:Q744A760 w/ 1.1125vid
1.395 vCore
2.0 DDR2 Volts
everything else is at default
5-5-5-15 Ram Timings by SPD
I've tried 63% gtlref voltages
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm hoping that there is just some obvious BIOS settings I'm missing.

I will also be doing the heatpipe mod as per Ace-A-Rue's guide!
Congrats on a wonderful and informative forum for the Abit IP35 Pro, the information has been invaluable!![]()
Regards![]()
ok, I started doing the Ace's PMW heatsink mod and so far this is what I see:
is this a good sign...seems to me, as a n00b, this is not good. coz I only see a few indentation, meaning there is some contact, but not throughout.
I'll clean up the NB&SB with the Arctic Cleaner...I'm not sure about this brown stuff...coz I'm not feeling to confident in where to place the Ceramique on "mosfet???"
I see the NB&SB where I need to place the Ceramique but not on the mosfets...am I suppose to place Ceramique on all 12 of those mosfet?
advance thanks

Yup, you want to put ceramique on each of the voltage regulators. Every time I see a picture of someone doing that it always makes me want to take mine apart just to get a good contact. But my PWM temps are always below 54c and I did try to press everything down when I assembled my system. I just keep telling myself that mine doesn't look like that... lol

is there a place to see the description ( what they improve/change/add ) of these new bios releaseS? I wan to give 16.09 a try to see if the vcore voltages are more stable....
Ace I did check for the silicone on those things you reccomended and yes there is silicone arround them....I guess I will have to ask a friend when he is bored to swap out power suplys......I really dont feel like rma'ing the motherboard if the psu swap dosnt solve it because god knows how long it will take to get it back from abit and I will probably just end up buying a new mobo......

So I get home from work yesterday and I sit down at the computer and it has shut down on me. Push the power button and nothing. Look inside at the post code and its at C1.
I power down and clear the cmos with the switch and try to fire it back up. Still nothing, stuck at C1 post code.
A quick search on the second machine and it looks like C1 is a memory error. So I pop out the 2gb crucial ballistix and throw in a single stick of gskill pc2-6400 and voila! it fires right up.
I think the crucial is junk and its going back. Got 4gb of gskill on the way, i got the PC2-8000 set from newegg.
This makes me think, does it matter which dimm slots the memory is in? I had the prior ram in the blue slots 1 and 3. I have seen some posts where people say slots 2 and 4 are better?

The 9 bios is working very well for my E8400.There are a bunch of new memory dividers (wish I could use them), the voltages on the Wolfdales is messy looking in uGuru. Prolly more changes then I am mentioning, but those are the ones that jump out at me.
EDIT
.5 multiplier option

Has anyone used the 16.9 bios with their Q6600? I just upgraded from the 14 to the 16.3B, and my temps seem lower than before (32 idle, 44 load vs. 40 idle 58 load with BIOS 14). Not sure which one is right, but Everest reports the higher temps while uGuru tells me my CPU doesn't get over 44. Unlikely, since it is overclocked to 3.6 with 1.41 volts. The PWM temps are reported as much lower with 16.3B as well.
Also, I get a high-pitched tinny sound under load as well. It's not too loud (my build is still spread out over my kitchen table), but I notice it. Seems to be coming from the little copper coils next to the CPU. Hopefully it won't be noticeable in my case - really want this to be a quiet build.

Hello i have a ip35 pro with 16.b09 bios, i wanna the "best" bios settings for oc an Q6600 b3, i have a E6750 and i don't have any problem with oc but Q6600 is a quad and i wanna know some values to set the GTLref & MCH & CPU VTT & ICH & ICH0 with a B3, this quad is only for testing, my next cpu is a E8400 but i wanna run 3dmark 06 with a cf in combination Q6600, if any have experience with this part please share with me this knowledge, thanx a lot, greetings...

I use 16.B04 with a Q6600 and it shows ridiculously high temps, like 79C cpu when its ~60 Coretemp. Other than that I am quite satisfied with the bios, been running 440x8 folding for 2 weeks now, 4x1GB mem at 1050.
Might try B09 though...
@stuck: These are my voltage settings fpr 440x8 with a G0 Q6600... B3 isn't different it just gets hotter. Of course set Vcore and VTT according to your CPU's needs but this works for me

Ouch. Sounds like my experience with a 2GB kit of Ballistix PC4000 a couple years ago. Set after set after set went bad. I think there were 5 RMAs in all. After the first replacement set the memory was never overclocked nor over-volted. In fact, the memory was actually under-clocked (ran at standard PC3200 speed) and it still failed time and again. Used on 3 different mobos with 3 different power supplies as well, so I think it's fair to say it was the memory that kept failing. Crucial stopped offering that stuff for sale after awhile, which is enough evidence for me.
I got all my parts, did the heatpipe mod right off the bat, and put it all together. I was able to find the right nylon hex lock nuts at a local Osh Hardware store. I hope while screwing them in when I slipped with the screwdriver over the mobo I didn't kill the traces overly much... I took some pictures as well if you'd like to see the gap with northbridge heatsink and stuff:

Specs are:

EVGA 8800GTS 512 G92
I have a couple questions though:
1. The RAM sucks! I can't get it to do 1T 4-4-4-12, even if I underclock it to 800MHz and ensure it's getting its 2.2V. If I do almost any overclocking, I get C1 errors. However, it technically works at spec when left alone and with little overclocking. Ugh. If I manually set the first four to 5-5-5-18, and to 2T, but leave the other settings to Auto it'll also error out. Has anyone found some good settings for this RAM and motherboard? I thought I was doing the "right thing" by getting this stuff
2. My overclocking attempts have been really pathetic. I'm plagued with constant BSODs, or failures to boot with almost all my OC attempts. I had super high hopes with this E8400 and motherboard, hoping for a 4.5GHz OC. Most I've hit was 3.6GHz, and when I did, my 3dMark '06 score dropped from 11k (when it was running base at 3GHz) to 9k with the loss all in CPU. What the heck? I also can't get my FSB over 400. Could somebody provide some guidance as to what to set the MCH and other voltages to if I'm looking to get the FSB stable at around 450 to 500? Any other voltages I should adjust? Should I increase or decrease the GTLRef?
On the bonus side, my PWM is 30 idle, 40 max on load. Sorry if this sounds like a rant..
mez, I'm not sure if my experiences can help, but I was getting random BSODS with my e8400 when my GTLREF% was too high. Try bringing it down to the 61-63% range and back off your RAM voltage.
Sure sounds like this is a mirror image of my problem. Good luck!![]()
