thank-you very much for the detailed reply. i will get back to the Phenom and try some things you mentioned. for now though, i grabbed an X2 5000+ BE and have had no issues pushing past 281HTT...

so it is definitely just something with the Phenoms and more work will be required to get past it. i'll be playing with this 5000+ BE for a little bit though, it feels like so long since i have had some AMD fun

BTW, thanks to BE for the BIOS configs on the first page. i basically started with those and adjusted from there. had this badboy cooking at 330HTT within an hour of opening the package. time to see what it will do with the CPU clocks now.
