Mainly The CPU, Chipset, FSB VTT and Memory were all undervolting, Like One second it would be normal, then the next like 1.0 on the memory, 0.8 on the Chipset and such. I guess thats what killed my Q6600, My Maximus and 2GB of my memory (the PC2-8500 sticks)
Sorry for your loss, Warboy! I think you just convinced me to use my Blitz over my Maximus now...

I think the Blitz has always been a more stable board and I don't think I need any of the extra features the Maximus offers right now.

I'm going 24/7 Phase Change in a few days and want the best board for the job...seems the Maximus isn't up to it.

Mine is still being flaky, but right now the opposite way, after my thread about degredation on the board/Q6600 they are now back up to max clocks with no changes what so ever...

Well, I think ASUS rushed the Maximus and I got one of the very first batch so hopefully a RMA fixes it. I'm going to call up ASUS and Intel tomorrow and make them give me advance RMAs on everything and crucial too. So I know I'm getting all new stuff. Even try to push ASUS and intel to upgrade my gear. Like a Q9450 and a Rampage but i doubt they will do that, Maybe Intel since they are always cool but ASUS is tech support is in India or something and its really annoying.

Guys, don't be so quick to abandon ship. I see similar complaints on nearly every brand and type of MB thread. When you push any board up and down and tweak this and that and reach for the sky, there are bound to be casualties. That doesn't mean the whole lot of any given piece of hardware is necessarily defective or faulty. More likely something spiked. There is no perfect product out there that can take all the tweaking and abuse without some failures.

Where is the rev. # printed on the Maximus Formula?

I cut off the heat pipe running from NB to SB at the NB block so that I could use a custom SB cooler. What does this mean if I ever need to Warrenty the board? Not sure how picky Asus would be if it came back without a heatpipe going to SB lol

And you think someone will sell it to you and maybe unfortunate his mobo dies and he has to search for a full heatpipe himself...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

If you're not a huge bencher/cruncher, there's no reason to get it if you'll never use it.

That being said, I can see your point. DDR2 prices will only drop now too, since we are going to be seeing a lot more of DDR3.

I've seen it done many times on other motherboard threads for this same reason. Some people are willing to sell a part they won't need for $15 because they assume theirs won't burn out. Life's all a gamble I suppose.

Maybe. Supply and Demand. If supply is low on DDR2 because most have switched to making DDR3 but demand is strong as many have swayed off from upgrading to DDR3 systems, then DDR2 prices won't fall but increase.

NFI, im aussy??? either way. Update i took the board out. Took the battery out overnight. left it sitting. Poured some flux over the board and hit it with the hot air pencil mainly around the NB. generaly if you hear a slight pop when fluxing with a hot air pencil its a component shooting off meaning it was buggered. Nothing like that. Put the board back in, Fired it got a DETRAM ( i had the sticks out...noob ) Put my stix in and away she went. never ran better. i still need to lower my NB voltage though but ive got it at 400mhz. 1,61 still may be too high.

I've seen many many requests for original heatpipes, surely with the Strikers and co, till now didn't see much response towards the person in need... I really hope you can find one and RMA the bugger...

@Vious : I run 400FSB at 1.47volts mate, all depends too if you run your ram at high clocks... if I set 1200mhz for the ram I need to up NB to 1.59 to be stable in benches and co...
