OK, I am having the strangest issue, maybe someone here can help.

I have 4x1GB of Ballistix 1066. For several months, I ran them at 1080, 5-5-5-15, 2.1V. 100% stable. Then, all of a sudden, I have tons of stability issues. I end up knocking the RAM back down to 800 which fixes about 90% of the stability issues.

So here is where it gets weird. If I try and run 1066, Vista hangs, BSODs, or reboots within a couple minutes, if it even loads up. However, every RAM test outside of windows passes forever (including every RAM test on UBCD).

Any thoughts? I have heard Vista can be sensitive to timings...but this is just ridiculous.

very very common with D9GMH memory. I've been through this 3 times on 3 different setups.

You need a 45nm to unlock the feature in BIOS (you wont see it with a 65nm chip).

Man, I'm really sorry to hear of that happening to you. I get scared of that happening to me all the time with these chips. I am lucky I have not had any issues yet, but to RMA them would be a kick in the face with the newer revision they are now giving out.

funny i wasnt able to access .5 multis with the 11/07 bios until i flashed to the beta, then back. anyone else have stability probs with 109 bios and 8400 on the 333 strap? my q6600 ran fine, but e8400 got tons of stange service errors and "superfetch no longer working" and "windows indexing shutting down" randon reboots, etc. other bios's are fine, 11/07 best.

Hey guys any screen caps or template of the new beta bios voltage section?

I'm itching to see what the "VTT Voltage for 45nm" change is ? Also, how low does PLL go in the new one, less than 1.55v?

Is this Vista only? Or does this happen on XP too? If so, does this mean that the RAM testing suites we have are all now incapable of proper testing?

I not sure myself, but I know its really a flaky RAM that's causing all those. I RMAed my TX 1066 before, and lucky me they replaced it with a brand new revision. hehehe

I think I'll stay put with 01/09 since it's working well for me, but please let us know if you see a difference down the road.

I just got the chance to take it all apart right now. I took the entire mobo cooling off and cleaned it all with ArctiClean. My question now is... should I just use the stock cooling and toss the transpiper, or should I leave my system apart and order aftermarket cooling.

I don't do extreme cooling, just watercooling... I like a great OC, but I don't go ape s***, so still trying to figure out what to do...

    Any pointers?

Type 2 HR-09U (I don't think I need the "S" version as I'm on water and don't have an obstacle), okay... but again my question is do I really need it? Also, how do you know what "Type" to choose anyway off the HR-09? I'm remounting the stock cooling for the transpiper version, but I can't use the transpiper out of my case... check this for those that don't know what's up with my system.
Not looking to spend a whole lot, but I'll do what I gotta do. I'm replacing me e6400 with the e8400 sitting on my desk.

Any advice will be taken with great appreciation. Thx in advance. I just want the best possible solution for what I do (nothing CRAZY)... just don't wanna spend TOO much.

I don't think it's an XP issue. I've had no problem with both my GMH ram's, Dominators and TeamX. I will get some GKX Tracers soon so i'll see how this mobo does GKX ram under XP..

guys, i believe vista are more sensitive to unstable ram because of superfetch. they try to use all the available memory, so any errors can easily apper.

with XP you have to open lots of apps/games to consume a large amount or ram

Well, Ive never bothered with the transpiper - looks like more trouble that its worth. I pulled all the stock cooling off, applied MX2 then tightened it all up again, and my temps are really pretty good for stock cooling. Coming from 680i its a whole different game! I do have a vantec stealth 80mm fan over the NB just to get a little bit of airflow around it when im pushing the board that bit higher, but its silent so doesnt bother me!

i'm interested to see how you guys attached small fans over the PWM & NB area... i used a zippy & a 40mm fan over the PWM but dunno bout the NB since it's too close to my vidcard
