For a 430W, I don't think it will unless you pump insane volts into it.
It seems you meant 3932MHz instead of 4932MHz there.![]()

Oh, typo ,edited
If your G0 needs 1.37v for 4Ghz, and I'll get the same batch (L739A) as you, you're saying that 430W should be enough for benching? Taking in consideration also that my 3870 will be overclocked.
Wait right there... let me bench 2k6 at 4GHz and see what power/volts it requires.
Thanks, I apreciate.
Well, to tell you the truth as of now, chip = degraded.
Did not boot 4GHz at even 1.45V now! That's so bad compared to before, previously I benched Pi 32M at 4.050GHz with 1.392V idle many times, at least 12/13 runs of it and other stress benches.
Anway, now, to small bench 4.00GHz it needs (i.e. Pi):
But this for more stressful benches (i.e. 2k6):
Max watts drawn with the last ss setup during 2k6 were 292W DC during Deep Freeze. That's with a Sapphire HD 2600 XT on P35 (800/700 @ 843/963 stock v). Will your GPU draw 200W DC under 2k6 load?
That's what it needs to draw to top 430W DC.![]()
I don't think my GPU will draw 200W DC under load.
I was reading here, there is a graph at the bottom with power consumption compared.
The test system was made up of a quad at 3.5Ghz, Asus Blitz Extreme, 4GB DDR3, HDD, DVD-RW and 5 Yate Loons. With a 3870x2 max power draw of the system was 418, with a 3870 was 309 in COH 1600x1200 4xAA.
I think I can bench just fine with this PSU. Thanks again for the info.![]()

Woah man! 1.57 is way to much! You can kill your chip with those volts faster - I'd say within 3-5 months or less.
Just put the voltage on "auto" - that way the CPU will take the voltage it needs instead of being flooded by power and dying faster.
Personally I need to boot with 1.6v to get to 4Ghz for 3dmark06 to run, but thats only for benching - and that's it.
BTW, those temps are kinda iffy. What are you using to monitor them?

After a little tweaking on air. Not bad I'd say. It seems it has potential. I needed 1.5625v for that. I can bench on air @4050 with 1.5v approximately.
And I need to prepare my w/c asap. LN2 can wait for now..![]()

After a few months of a) losing two mobo's (one 680i that I destroyed trying to modify the NB & SB cooling, flimsy PCB or maybe my heavy hand, but my old DFI Ultra-d I put through hell and it kept on ticking & still is in a buddy's rig) and one P5K Premium which was RMAed; b) going through 3 2x1g OCZ kits of memory, yes 6gigs of it, 4g the first time and 2g the second, both times when I changed O/C's in the O/C save thingy in the bios; I have come up with a decent overclock I'm happy with.
I have a Q6600 G0 Stepping - L724A760 vid=1.2750
It will go to 3.2g before I have to raise the Vcore.
3.4g @ 1.3375 Vcore
3.6g @ 1.4125 Vcore
3.7g @ 1.4875 Vcore
3.75 @ 1.5125 Vcore This is where I stopped. I have to pour on the voltage to get it clock faster. But she will do 4.0 but is not stable.
Pics are worth a a thousand words or so I heard. This is with a 21-22c room temp.
Idle temps
Small FFT's temps run for 10 minutes
As you can see there is no idle to load Vcore drop.
Since this is a gaming rig here's some 3DMark stuff
Notice how poor Vista Ultimate 64-bit does compared to XP Pro 32-bit
Still I use Vista to game with mostly cause it gives my games more graphics options. Still I can't overclock the 8800GTX as much in Vista as I can in XP.
I'm cooling the rig with a real redneck water loop. You know like back in the old days, with a 5 gallon aquarium and a 20ft of head pond pump. BTW, I like the noise, the only quiet rig I've ever built was the DFI with a Opty 146 and a Zalman flower. I had a hard time sleeping with that rig, I'm use to the white noise, or whatever color noise it is.
All my voltages are set to their lowest settings in the bios except for Vcore and Vdimm which is 2.15v.
In the coming weeks I'm going to play with memset and see if I can tighten the timings a bit, but I don't think I'll see much performance from it with a gaming rig, I might be wrong but I think that mhz beats timings in gaming.
If any one knows how I can lower the Vcore with some of the bios settings in this P5K Premium, give out a shout.

Thnx m8. It is a L733B with vid 1.225..Exceptional vcore for 3.6GHz you got there.. I need 1.35 in order to be prime stable@ this frequency though I can boot and work with 1.26 but of course it's not prime stable..
I may need lower vcore even for that "max" cpu-z on air. I realized that many times b4 with lower clocks.
You can't be sure on air sometimes the cpu gets hot and you can't make safe assumptions about the actual vcore needed.
As I said though I need to fix my W/C asap in order to see how further can I go.
IF my cpu is prime stable @4GHz with 1.5v as it is now for benching, I may have a shot for 24/7 use with my new W/C loop..
Right now of course with air it is out of the question I won't even bother..

Many noted it, me too. My previous L734B chip did 3.6GHz, at 1.43vcore and 55°C small FFT on water. My new L740B does 3.6GHz at 1.33v, and 60°CI lapped it a first time, 0°C change, gave it a second tour lap: -5°C

As posted on the other thread, mine's a L733B batch, VID at 1.25v. Easily does 3.6Ghz with just 1.45v but requires quite lotsa juice to run at 4.25Ghz. Here's a screenie at 4.2Ghz. Mobo used was an old skool Asus commando. This is a gaming rig which runs approx 7hrs daily. Cascade cooled, able to hold at temps at -61C load and -57C Full load.
