just a quick insert but I believe that the san ace make some extraneous noise when being slowed via a PWM controller. If some1 can test this it would be awesome, as I have sold mine now.

agreed on the nf-p12
here is the fact sheet on it

For those wondering buying those Noctua NG-P12, NCIX has a special price of 14.99$ each currently : http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...a&promoid=1008
@Vapor: any comments on the Scythe Slip Stream SY1225SL12SH (1,900 rpm version)? just saw one where i'm at & it' selling very cheapthanks
Same thing I've had to say about all the Slipstreams....all the ratings are bogus and it's not a radiator fan.
Could be a good open air fan--don't know since I haven't tested it.
Vapor how did you under volt the sanyo 1011? did you use a fan controller?
Sunbeam fan controller, Zalman ZM-MFC1, variable resistor, and 5V hardwire all had the exact same data (where applicable).
ah, cool. was just wondering as those scythe fan controllers look really sweet and was thinking about that and either the san ace or the noctua fans. (ordered one of each to see what i like)
Awesome review Vapor! Thanks for your hard work and time doing this.
I'm wondering what fan i should get for a TRUE for my next build. I currently have a 92mm Tornado on a TR XP90 fitted on an AMD rig. I'm looking to get a 120mm fan with a high cfm rating that will do well on my sunbeam rheobus and i guess noise isn't really an issue since i am used to running this Tornado(+ 4 more 80mm case nados) on full blast while gaming anyway. Would this Scythe Ultra Kaze be good enough? The price is certainly right and so is the cfm rating.
My Main Rig - O'cing a WIP:
Cpu: Intel Xeon X3210 G0 @ 3.6GHz @ 1.37v
Mobo: DFI LanParty LT X38-T2R
Ram: 4X1GB Ballistix 667 @ 1041MHz - OCZ XTC Memory Cooler
HS/F: TRUE + 120mm Panaflo U1BX
PSU: Corsair 620HX
Audio: X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro - Aiwa Z-HT63
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 320GB/WD1200JB/NEC ND-3550A
Input: Saitek Eclipse II - Logitech G5
Video: BFG 8800GTS OC 512Mb + HR-03 GT + 92mm Tornado - Viewsonic vx2235wm
Misc: Sunbeam RHK-EX-SV Silver Rheobus Extreme
Case: Chieftec Silver Dragon
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate x64
Again, if I haven't tested it...I don't know how it performs. BUT, the CFM rating is probably 10-15% overrated.
Uhh ok then, how about the Panaflo U1A? Where can i find one of them? This is the closest i could find according to the specs.

Probably pushes a little less air than the Ultra Kaze 3000. NMB-MAT motors are extremely durable too. I can't imagine you'll see any difference in temps, let alone MHz.
That's another thing i was wondering about. Do i really need that many cfm's? I mean where is the cutoff between cfm's and performance? No sense in getting a crazy cfm fan if my temps aren't gonna get any lower. So is that Panaflo i linked too the U1A you reviewed?
edit:nevermind i see it isn't. Guess the one i linked to will do the job.

Vapor,
Is there any comparable difference between the 101 and 1011 San Aces? Considering the 1011 seem to be rare and finding any in-stock at a reasonable price seems impossible, I was wondering if the 101 would be a suitable substitute.

edit: 101 are ribbed apparently, anything other than that?

Wow, now this is one comprehensive testing of yours, thanks for all the effort Vapor!
As far as I can remember, your testings and thoughts match my own personal experience with the fans I had. Always wondered why these Yate Loons are so different, some rock and some suck (sounds harsh but it's true). That's why I have been using the S-Flex, until I received some Noctua P12 fans about a month ago. Since they are made in Austria, they were first available here in Germany and I gotta tell you, that one's a class of it's own, just like the San Ace you mentioned. They are nothing like the S12 series (I actually found a place in the back of my case for it where there's no resistance...)
You really should be getting a P12 for testing, best fan (at least in Europe) in my book, and I've seen quite a few
In fact, I have so much confidence in them to trust one with cooling my SS unit.

Vapor !!!! , I read your Articles and i'm a little confused
I have TWO PA120.3 Thermochill Radiators .
I want to buy 6 fans for attaching them with FANBUS.
What i need is:
Fanbus Full :Full power - the fans must cool the Radiators good- Noise doesn't matter (Max OC)
Fanbus Minimum: the fans must be Very Quit and cool the radiators (Medium OC) .
I can buy from Petra .
1. Which fans do you recoment for my TWO Thermochill PA120.3 (triple) ??
2. Which Fanbus Do you recomend ?

I can buy from Petra's (they should have plenty of these in stock...)
1. Which fans do you recoment for my 2 PA120.3 (triple) ??
Yates Medium Speed, Sflex-F, Zalman F3s(last on my list)
2. Which Fanbus Do you recomend ?
Sunbeam Rheobus, tried and tested
or Zalman mfc1
3. other fan recommendation is Sanyo Denki San Aces 1011 or 101(ribbed one, gut this with dremel. should have same specs as 1011)
Just wanted to say I went with the Zalman ZM-F3 fans based on your fan testing Vapor, and am very happy! Great job!
I am concerned about the ZM-F3. Its a bit *too* silent at 7v.. I gather about 20bB and therefore doesn't push very much air. At the same time, its pretty loud at full blast.. I guess about 34dB. Is it pushing over 70 cfm at full blast?
I heard NateP's machine, and its pretty darn loud for a case with fewer than 8 fans.
