Ofcourse we are, wouldnt have made those comments if we werent
... cant wait what jodi have to say hehe..
Who's got the board now? Im really curious too if these suckers are really capable of going that high so maybe Ill grab an E8500 too.... Ive been searching for an X5260 the last few days till I found out today S771 cpus only work on S771 mobos lol....
you guys make me laugh

P.S - Being a guy, not sure if I'd appreciate being called Jodi![]()

Dave, how did you change multi with bios 1226. I can't change multi and vcore goes to 1.53v after every other boot.
E8400, Asus P5Q-D, GTX280, X-fi music, 4X1GB D9's, Scythe Ninja, corsair 620
you know, i try to stay on the sidelines and just watch the show sometimes but you have to go drag my name through the ladies department...tsk tsk.
i know you guys just do it because your jealous so it doesn't bother me anymore
and i think i need your golden touch Lui because my first pair of E8400s are duds...still haven't put them under phase but not looking good on air and that is primarily what i needed these beasts for, clocking memory.
First and last time Ill do that Jody,Didnt even know what the diff the "i" make to be honest... You know its just all for fun and games but Im sorry if I offended you buddy...
2 duds? I had a rough day today, actually its been a rough couple of weeks now so I decided to past by NCIX and grab an 8400 so I can beat the living crap out of it tonight, but they were sold out.... Going to a diff place tommorrow and grab one and if its a clocker you got first dibs on it after Im done... I dont feel too lucky though cos I think I jinx myself
We'll see what she got hehe...
yeah, i made one little comment about the 'i' and now i am paying for it...rightfully so i guessi know its all in good fun, no worries there.
i wasn't even being greedy looking for a good clocker, just a high FSB so i could play with 32M low clock on air and be covered for DDR3 clocking...yeah, 520+ FSB dual 32M stable is a must with some kits lately
***back on topic though, the silly P5K3-Dlx won't let me turn C1 off with the new BIOS that "supports" the 45nms. i have had enough testing on the P5K3 though, i am digging through boxes right now looking for the good old C1 P5B-Dlx...ahh, the memories are already flooding back.
hay i have p5b. Send the cpu overThis is all weird. The most weird is that dinos could not reproduce your overclock. p5b over 2300FSB is nothing to sneeze at its frkn amazing. The most i could get with my cpu is 2000FSB. Man i wish when i get 8500 to get same fsb.

i know you're just pulling our legs
we love you maaaaaaan![]()
I don't believe it was the CPU's, but something unexplainable happened when I raised the FSB in Windows using SetFSB. The mobo manipulated the CPU somehow. I got FOUR E8x00's to 590fsb with ease, three E8400's and one E8500 that dino sent down.
One of the E8400's crashed toward the end of the dual 32M superpi run @ 600 fsb, or 2400-quad pumped. I think if the air temperature was 10c cooler, it could have successfully completed the run. The ambient at the at time was just below 30 degrees celcius.

I didn't know you could set half multi's. By the time dino alerted me to it, I had already dismantled the system to send the motherboard away for testing. I never tried setting half multi's. I don't even know if it works on the P5B-D.
If it doesn't work for you, it probably won't work for me either. BTW, what revision is your's? Mine's 1.04G, Rev C2. I think some of the earlier models were C1's. But test your P5B-D with 45mm dual core anyway.
edit: I think I misunderstood you. I thought you asked how to change half multi's![]()

But to change multi, type the number in with the keyboard. While you're there, test to see if you can do half multi's.

No, I can't even change multiplier, and yes I have C1 revision.

thats okay, i dug my rev 1.03 C1 P5B-Dlx out today that brought me so much fun with memory clocking and it refused to POST. E6850, E8400, nothing. it is in the corner doing an overnight battery out/CPU out CMOS clear but i am afraid my P5B-Dlx has seen its last day. RIP little buddy...you served me well for a long time considering the abuse you got. you can join the QuadGT in the MB afterlife, both excellent servants to the OC'er![]()
I didn't think the difference between C1 and C2 could be this far apart. I don't have a solution to that problem mate, sorry I can't give you any tips on that one.
I think it's the latest/last batches of P5B-D that overclocks to crazy FSB's (rev 1.04G C2). I received positive news yesterday that the motherboard I sent away did welll in a couple of tests.![]()
I haven't seen any results posted, but it seems the person testing it is quite impressed![]()
I can draw an early conclusion that it was the motherboard ran those freakish FSBs, not the CPU's. While I've never had a chance to play with latest motherboards like the Asus Blitz and GA-DQ6 etc, I am surprised that the old P5B-D is capable of such higher FSBs.
dino, will you be hunting high FSB motherboards as well as CPUs?![]()
ahahah always on a lookout for good gear heheh
actually there is another thread by loco on asus commando which is 965 C2 board doing monster FSB too
funny thing is eva2000's commando which is the same doesn't do anything different to his other boards
i saw a P5B DLX version 1.10 eek thinking of buying it lol
A Rev 1.01G P5B-D? Gee, that's an archaeological find isn't it![]()
It seems finding a 'good' board is akin to find a 'good' CPU, you just never know what you'll get. I saw the other thread with the Commando, little does it surprise that loc said his CPU doesn't get anywhere near the same FSB in his Maximus.
I was saying to Kosta yesterday, I wonder what the result would be if you combine a freak motherboard with a freak CPU, that would be very mouth watering prospect, right dino?![]()
Keep looking mate, I want to see Team.AU nudge a WR or two![]()
1.10
if i can't get that board maybe i'll just have to put yours on LN2
i am getting an E8500 that does easy 570/580 on air with X38 board so imagine one of these 965 board lol
only problem with 965 boards is RAM clocking so that's the other issue
i am very certain manufacturers will figure this out fairly soon

Wow, I'm glad I found this post...David...if I can "hijack" your post briefly...![]()
Long story short... "killed" my P5B-D rev 1.03g MB last month w/ a bad OC job. RMA'd to Asus as I was still within 2 year warranty....not honestly expecting them to help me out...yesterday I received from them a P5B-D rev 1.04g MB in a bag...no cables, screws, etc... I'm assuming either it's a new board or a 're-conditioned" one? Within the next 2-3 days I'll have time to hook everything up.
Some of the posts in this thread I think help to explain why my original 1.03 rev MB failed...of course, 90% of it was my fault as I got carried away per usual... ( and I used the "1237" bios, which, I notice, is no longer listed at the Asus site) What is this "C1" or "C2" along with the rev number? Where is that info? And, what does C1 or C2 mean?
I'm hoping my poor previous OC did not damage any other components besides the MB... I'll soon find out. At Anand's site, some of the guys felt I'd do better w/ 4 gig 2x2 of this G Skill memory for my OC's:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231194
...rather than the Corsair ddr2-800 XMS26400c4 (4 x1 gig sticks) that I have now... thoughts?
So, to sum up.... I have an E8400, the new Asus P5B-D rev 1.04g MB, and the Corsair mem....and a GTX280 on the way from newegg. I'm looking to get between a 3.6 and a 4.0 OC....nothing radical...
What do you all think?
There is lots of knowledge of this particular MB on this thread....
Thx for any input...
