My 8500 arrived today. It is a 745A and has VID of 1.000V
At 1.184v it will run Superpi32M at 4GHz which is good. Less good is that I am having to use my retail Intel fan as I broke my normal heatsink putting it on. Noob alert
. Also this P5K is struggling at 500FSB, it must think it is an nvidia 680i.
I think I am in for a long night ahead of struggling
As for the tales of death, well this is a new process. When chips are going out of the factory at 1v and you stick 50% more through then it might not be surprising that degredation is occuring. If you are benching for a short time then ok, if it is your main machine then you might as well play safe and stick with say 33% overvolt or less than 1.4v.
Regards
Andy
