Well, they're faster clock for clock b/c of the larger L2 cache and SSE4 instructions, but the main thing is they clock higher & run cooler.

Everyone seems to be hitting 4Ghz +- with Wolfdales, assuming they don't hit a motherboard or FSB wall before it.

Dang, Giga 965P-DS3 rev1 won't boot Wolfdale/Yorkie for me, ES models of any speed, with this new Beta F13o. Guess I'll go back to f12 to beat up Conroe some more.

Yeah, mine didn't boot either. (rev 1.0) I thought maybe I broke my motherboard with all the problems I had uninstalling & reinstalling the heatsink. And I had already sold my e6600 so I couldn't pop it back in and test everything out. Damn it, I guess its time to order an Asus P35 mobo.

This is what I figured. So you wont see much benefit since you likely wouldnt be able to OC it as high as it could go?

hi all, i have a 965P DS3P and had updated the bios to F6G, from F5.
i am experiencing a very weird situation, sometimes the board will boot with F5 bios, instead of F6G. All the settings will not change, but the bios version had change. Does anybody experience the same thing?

So, another person could confirm if the 8400 works on the 965P-DS4 REv 1.0 with the latest F11F beta bios ? I was so close to buy a P35 based mobo, could be great if the 8400 will work on my 965p-ds4 1.0.

    How about S3 rev 1.0?

Should work just fine with 8400/8500 right?

Hey guys i just had one quick question. I have a P35-DS3R with F6 BIOS. Ive got a E4500 and some Crucial Ballistix RAM. Now when i turn on my computer every once in a while i get a BSOD. The dump logs say it could be memory related.

Should i update to the latest BIOS? F11 i think..

Does anyone know a vmod (not the vdroop mod) for S3 rev. 3.3?
I found one over at the Rebel's Haven but it's rev 1.0.
The pins are aligned differently and it uses a different PWM chip.
Could someone maybe help me figure out the pins?
First time I'm gonna do a vmod (or any such modding).
I have attached a picture of the PWM area,

I see a new F13r revision for the GA-965P-DS3 on the station-drivers site. File link is here

No detail as to the change from the F13o revision. Has anyone tried it?

will u gain from e6400@ 3.2 to wolfy ... YES ! even at stock my e8400 beats my old spuer Pi times by about a second (e6400@3.4) now my wolfy is at 3.8 and trashes the old chip although im little unsure if the lack of clocks is due to bios/board just not sucha golden chip as i cant get it stable much higher but windows is fine , loadit up though and it hard locks inseconds !

flashing to F13o on Sunday killed my board. No post after that, despite it looking like a success. I've got the P35 DS3L now. It's been nice following this thread the past year and a half.

New Bios for the GA-965P-DS3 rev 2.0 and rev 3.3

    F13q for rev 3.3 http://www.gigabyte.us/Support/Mothe...ProductID=2428

    F13x for rev 2.0
    http://www.gigabyte.us/Support/Mothe...ProductID=2405

I have rev 3.3 and flashed to F13q with out any problems. But I am still running my old e6400. I do not have a wolfdale or yorkfield cpu' to test with yet.

Yeah, it's official, E4300 is not usually much of a FSB clocker. I managed to swap my year old E4300 for a E6300. I could never get above 350 MHz FSB with that E4300, but this E6300 is happy all the way up to something like 457 MHz FSB (3.2 GHz) on all stock volts!
