Don't worry, Shintai just hates AMD. I don't think theres been a thread where this character hasn't crapped all over AMD's products, no matter how good they may be.

    my mx 400 = dead

    My ti 4200 = dead

    my fx 5600 = dead

    my fx 5700U = dead

Fx 5950U DOA sent it back grabbed a 9800 pro, tossed on an artic cooling heatsink, gave it insane volts + flashed bios........never looked back....

Geez it almost looks like theres a pattern there...............
Heheh Chew I will buy your Nvidia cards ( as I didn't have one dead one yet besides one 7900GT KO that gave artifacts , though I pushed it pretty far...) and you buy me the ATI cards I want as I toasted several ( non Oc'ed and on stock cooler ) Chew we got a deal sir ?

I really hope these dual GPU vidcards get better driver support than what I had in the 7950X2 days, some games ran pretty slow some flew... to me it's new hardware, but it seems like a blast from the past...

C'mon lads give us some blistering drivers and make those game programmers to enhance crossifre and SLI support in their games...

I think all will depend on the retail street price of these cards if they will be popular or not... and I'm pretty sure they will shine with a beefy CPU and at high resolutions.... if we get a good catalyst release...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

or 2 3870 and a mars board, i'm pretty sure that works :P

    F.E.A.R results at 1920x1200

When the game is optimized the X2 appears to shine

However, the rest appear to be driver related issues. I also assume that GDDR4 from CF is also contributing to better performance.

    Testbed

Maybe that explains the delay in releasing early? I read somewhere ATI is reworking the drivers.

Yes, the new drivers are supposedly giving pretty significant boosts to performance as rumored by a lot of reviewers, hence the release date + nda were pushed back to original

"a lot of reviewers" ? Where are "the lot" that can know anything about the new drivers in the making? And is one week enough time for the new Catalyst to be ready?

i think they are working on them almost for 1 month , the catalyst 8.1 BETA was released 31th December , next moday is already 28th (almost 1 month since last catalyst Beta)

of course next catalyst 8.2 its not a 100% driver , but a lot of Bugs with Cat 8.1 + HD3870X2 maybe solved in Cat 8.2 ....

    let´s wait and see

next week i also will receive a Powercolor HD3870X2 to test!

    regards

With all of these SLI and dual chip cards the former 3dfx people are probably laughing their asses off... they were ahead of their time...

Is it worth getting this or waiting for R700/G100 or whatever? I'll be completely upgrading next month, doubt i'll get a SLI motherboard so i'll lose one of my 7900GTX's is the problem.
No. A single fast GPU would be more than enough for you.

anyone run test with pcie 1.1? I dont have a 2.0 board yet. I would think these wouldnt bottleneck on standard pcie lanes.
