You're kidding....right? He is getting excellent performance with it.....I haven't ever run that res in the game (I run 1920*1080), but that seems about right.

I don't know HOW they got those numbers man......I stay at 45-100 FPS at 1920*1080 with everything in the game maxed out, and I RARELY drop to 30 FPS.....only with multiple grenades and dust everywhere.....
Something is most definitely wrong with those numbers.

Yea that's BS man....I just ran a few benches at 1920*1080 in game maxed.....Catalyst 7.12 and here are the results.
    format is:
frames:time in ms: min FPS: Max FPS: Avg. FPS
    1237 29362 31 81 42.129
    2583 29047 34 147 88.925
    969 13223 35 121 73.281
    1470 22475 30 153 65.406

This was starting at the beginning of blackout, and you can see how long each bench is....I took benches in firefights, different parts of the first area of the map, looked in all directions, etc.
WOW I'm not sure I can ever trust an article from techreport....
I just went back and double checked the settings....sure enough it's maxed, 4X AA and the slider for AF is all the way to the right.
They're using Catalyst 7.11, but I was getting around the same numbers as now with the Crysis hotfix, which is essentially the 7.11 beta.

After playing CoD4 with my 3870's, I was not impressed at all. Sure, the 3DMark scores were impressive, but not being able to play 1680x1050/16x/16x with a smooth frame rate wasn't worth it. I threw my GTX back in, and the 3870's are staying out.

I'm not impressed also with my 3870's playing COD4 @1920*1200. It doesn't runs smooth at all. In the "Downpour" map (Multiplayer) i have huges lags, others run a little better and very few maps run smooth.

I'm done with CF. Going back to nVidia (8800GTS 512).

there's really hardly any difference (visually) between 16X AA and 4X AA
in fact, some people say it looks worse.

The ATI 2900 and 38X0 cards don't scale as well in AA. But I don't use anything past 4X AA anyway.

alright this settles it; i'm getting a 3870
As Los Alamos director J. Robert Oppenheimer watched the demonstration, he later said that a line from the Hindu scripture the Bhagavad Gita came to mind:
"I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds."
Test director Kenneth Bainbridge in turn said to Oppenheimer, "Now we are all sons of b**ches." wiki

I also have flashed the cards with Daidalos bios to keep 2d and 3d the same speed.Maybe you should give it another try.
