I really think CPU-Z is utter junk when it comes to vCore. If you don't have Everest Ultimate, the free version does a "good enough" job (LINKY).

EXCELLENT VID1.1125V
going to bench after I prime the chip,
![]()
Hi Guys,
need help troubleshooting, i previously posted about it, but i need to ask again, my system seems stable right out of a cold boot (power off main), memtest ok, prime95x2 runs for a few hours, then somehow, it will trip and reboot. On this reboot, if i do a memtest, i will get LOADS of error, and i will most likely have problem entering windows. even if after entering windows, my prime wont be stable.
I had replaced my antec trio650 PSU with a thermaltake toughpower 750w, because I found that my 12V rail dropped to 11.3v on antec during max loading. Now 12v rails stays at 12.04 which is good. So I thought my problem was solved, but seems like it isnt!
My oc is somewhat modest,
e6750@3.33, fsb416,
4x1gb ballistix6400@1000mhz 5-5-5-15, using 333strap, twister light
NB@1.59v,
vCore@1.35V(+-0.01V),
temp idle about 32-35C, on load max 60C,
cpupll@1.65V
vfsb@1.40V
I have a simple 7900GS and 4xSeagate Barracuda, I calculated and my system power requirement is still much below 750W.
Any ideas/suggestions? Please help thanks in advance

It probably isn't related, but your CPU PLL seems high. Intel recommends no higher than 1.6v. I found setting 1.6 in BIOS would give me around 1.68, IIRC and some instability. I have turned it down to 1.54v and eliminated some sources of instability while keeping the voltage below reference.
I would also like to know your vDIMM.

Quoted from another thread..
I managed to run it @3.6GHz with ram @1:1 for now and with lower than rated timings to eliminate ram issues. It is stable.I took my Maximus Formula yesterday along with 4x1gb (800MHz) Crucial Ballistix. (already updated bios to 0907)
My problem is that I cannot even post @ 3.6GHz which was my previous 24/7 O/C with my E6600 on a P5W DH dlx and with 2x1Gb Gskill (800MHz)..
The LCD poster keeps saying "DET RAM" which probably means that it doesn't like something in the memory settings in the bios. I know 4x1Gb can be a PITA for O/C, but I cannot understand that it doesn't even boot with auto mem settings @3.6GHz (9x400) and 266/333 divider (that is even with looser timings 5-5-5-15 than the rated 4-4-4-12@800MHz).
Can someone tell me what do I need to check/experiment in the bios with? That is to be more specific, what settings can cause the system not to boot after the O/C? I don't think it has to do with the cpu probably new memory is causing this problem.
I'll keep my E6600 till the Q9450 will be here so I need your help with this new mobo, in order to restore my 24/7 O/C with this cpu.
Thnx in advance
So after experimenting a bit I found out this.
IF I shutdown and cut the power completely from the psu and then try to restart I won't have posting issues. But if I just shutdown and then try to restart it won't post..![]()
What can be causing this?

Ok I'll check it. Sometimes it posts closes after 2 secs and then in the second automatic try to post I won't have issues.
I can't be sure if it is surely related to the O/C but it seems that it doesn't like something that I can't be sure of..
So what you're basically saying is to lower the chipset voltage?

well, with 4 dimms, you are probably just at the point of maximum FSB when you experience this behavior. Upping volts will increase stability, but you'll find that the board will not soft boot...
So, it may not be just volts too high, but temps that are too high for that voltage. I get this behavior @ 450mhz FSB when using stock cooling on the board, but putting the board under water made it boot every time...but the maximum did not increase very much...and that's with dual or quad core, so definately a board issue.
I have the exact same issue. It will reboot from windows fine. It will power on from a power failure or cord disconnect fine. But if I do a shut down then try to boot back up, it hangs on DET DRAM. Seems to be an issue with the board (bug if you will). I have tried more chipset volts, up to 1.75v, and this did not help the issue. Most likely just a bug when 4 sticks are installed.
This is not the case. My chipset loads at 28°C. I have exceptional watercooling. Adding more volts to the NB didn't help either. Still have the same booting issue.

Yeap I just saw it in the web. Seems like a cold boot bug that many are experiencing.. Not so annoying but I hope they can fix it through a bios update if it's fixable..
Thnx for the confirmation![]()

Hi, NB temp is about 48C-50C on max load.
Hi thanks for suggestion, setting low pll now.
my vdimm is set to 2.10V, giving me about 2.22V in everest, spec for ballistix @ 1000 is 2.2, but if i use 2.08 in bios i only get about 2.19, and since i using 4sticks i figured 2.22 is ok.
btw occt 30min passes

At what point do you start ot experience this issue, and how did you resolve it? Cooling NB helped for me...so maybe strap sets timings to tight? I'm guessing, but i think there is more to this problem than just "a bug".
Don't get me wrong, jsut looking for more info on the issue so as to be able to properly deal with it....
Anandtech has an excellent article on TRD and it's settings in relation to straps and FSB on the new Rampage Formula. Although we don't have the MCH settings that are in the new board the read is good.
Check it out here

Possibly. It was said here that the Rampage bios may work for Maximus but I'm not willing to risk a bricked board to find out. I imagine though that Asus will release a newer version with those settings.
The "Transaction Booster" setting in our bios does adjust the TRD but it also may adjust other settings for the MCH. The only way to find out what it adjusts is to play with it and check the settings with I believe MemSet or Everest. I'll be checking this out tonight if I have time.

Can you get your addon soundcard to work with 3rd party microphones? I cannot get mine, all the mics I tried are mute. The same mics works fine with my laptop.
is it normal as the boot screen comes up and checks hard drives that is says S.M.A.R.T capable something bla bla as its loading, dont remember seeing this before, just wondering

Dont understand this board! i set my cpu voltage to 1.2750 in everest its reporting it as 1.22 voltage. I set my dram voltage to 2.04 and everest reports dimm as 2.14 and dimm vtt as 1.07. Whats going on -_- and what does dimm vtt mean?

It only does it when I have all 4 slots populated. Even at stock, with all 4 DIMM slots filled, it will not boot from just a normal Windows shutdown. Like I said before, if the power is cut or I just do a reboot, there will be no issues. I fold, so my PC is on all the time, so I really haven't found a solution to the issue except for taking 2 sticks out, booting into BIOS, cutting power via PSU switch, put the the sticks back in and powering back on. Boots OK after that.
