    Strange Issue

I have been trying to fine tune my machine to run @ 3.6 and have had many issues, the first being a heat issue, I tried a cheap gigabyte liquid cooler and my temps were in the low 60c range so I built a swiftech system and crammed it in a CM stacker the temps then went 50 degrees unders load, still not what I was looking for so I started lowing the OC voltages and playing with other settings to get the power usage down. I had a crash and since then memory slot 1 and 2 do not work at all it will not post if any memory is in them, but I have 2 gig (2x1) in slot 3 and 4 and it passes OCCT 30 min just fine with a max temp of 37c and idle of 20c-22c how is this possible? nothing else changed. I like the new temps but I have 2 more sticks or reaper memory I need to put in, but if any thing is in slot one or two it will not post at all. Blast me with thoughts please I dont want to RMA it but, I dont want to be stuck with it if it is bad.

It had the liquid cooled NB rather than the air cooled one.
the rig just completed 10 hours of testing with occt no crash and 36c go figure.

Motobuddy, I'm unclear as to which memory slots you are running.

Is your memory currently in the white slots or blue slots?

Based upon your description I'm thinking you have one stick in a white slot and one in a blue slot and if that is the case then that could be causing some of your problems. Move the memory to either both blue or both white slots.

it won't boot at all if I Move the memory the only configs that works are 1 stick in slot 3 or 4 or 2 sticks in 3&4 all 4 of my sticks will work like this. And yes the slots are mismatched and ran stable for 10hours

Sorry I'm lazy today so I'll ask what already may have been posted

    What kinda of ram?
    Bios?
    Ram volts?

When you have 2 sticks in the WHITE or BLUE slots what is the error / point at which the pc hangs on your LCD poster?

Temps are amazing on this chip. I'm not even paying attention to temps anymore. Gave it 1.480 (25-27c ambient), chip never topped 50c.

Yeah. I have a P5N32-E that can do 1T. It worked out for me on some overclocks to drop down to 1:1, so that meant running slow enough that 1T was feasible (around 800MHz or slower).

I was just trying to bench CR1, but I couldn't get it! BIOS would show 1T, but all other reporting said 2T! Oh, well... as Zucker says, it's probably not even worth benching.

Here's some other benches, mostly on 680i but there are some on this board with sigged RAM and the G.Skill PC2-8000 2x2s.

It's the IDE controller. If you don't use IDE drives you can happily disable it.

    1t

Here's a 1T screenshot. Couldn't get higher with quad, will try with my dually and see if these numbers improve. My X38 chipset chipset is finally coming alive; I got it to 9x540 fsb, 545 crashes . I'm more than happy though.

its bios 907, ocz reaper pc2 6400, 2.11 acutal volts,
it never gives any screen, it checks cpu then goes to detect dram and hangs,
that is the same haning point for any configuration that uses slot 1 and 2.

I can not get 3-3-3-10. Kingston6400, KHX6400D2ULK2/2G these are kits of (2x1G), I now have 2 kits 4G total. One time I was able to boot up at the above settings, I beleve it's when I had one kit installed only.

Kingston specs say these kits are tested to run 800Mhz 3-3-3-10 @ 2.3-2.35 Spd jedec say 5-5-5-15 @ 1.8 I set my dram v to 2.35, wont boot up, also tried Comand rate 2t and trans booster disabled, relax level 0. with everything on auto get 5-5-5-18 @ 1.97 dram v. ????????

    What can I change?

Here are my timings for 1t

    3-3-3-3-1-20-1-1-7-1-4-4-6-4-6

    333 strap, 1:1, fsb 333 = DDR2 667 (you can also do it on the 266 strap, but at fsb 266; 4:5 = DDR2 667)

    DRAM static read = enabled
    AI Clock Twister = Strong
    Transaction Booster = Enabled, 1
    NB = 1.55
    VDimm = 2.2 (2.4 actual)

    Hope this helps

    Quick Question -

Has anyone managed FSB's above 450mhz with Quad Core CPU's?

I have tried to get above 450 on mine and I just can't get it stable. I know the CPU can do the actual speed and I know the memory can do 500mhz but the board just doesn't post past about 460mhz even with everything on auto.

I see a few bios settings posted for 500+ mhz FSB but I think those are Dual Core?

Board wil do it, its the quad that doesnt like higher FSB most likely. Max FSB i got on Maximus so far:

    Quad air

E6600 air (same max as on any 965/P35 board ive used, its chips max)

    E6600 dice:

Neo_Rtr, I can get 4+ GHz, but my temperatures are totally unacceptable even with a high multi. What multis have you tried?

Aurhinius, I've tried as high as 465 with no problem. Again, temperatures are my limiting factor.

Zucker, thanks for the screenies. 540FSB on your Wolfdale is awesome. It gives me some hope for the Q9450 (I'm pre-ordered at TankGuys). Thanks for the 1T screenies. It makes me feel better to see bandwidth in the gutter!

***EDIT: Loc.O, you posted immediately before me. Can you share some of your Q9550 findings on this board? I'm infinitely curious how my Q9450 will do. Thanks!

Compared to other results ive seen the chip ive used is probably a bit less then average but the low max FSB with low multi makes these chips rather useless imo. If you have a good G0 i wouldnt go Q9x50.

    Max FSB:

Max 1M (FSB with 8.5 multi a little less then 7)

    Some 3D:
