    what is your set Vdimm, ICHIO 1.5 and MCH?...is it hanging at C1 code?...if so, that has to do with memory or possibly to low of vcore.

    just tried again and got code 01 at bootup. "Expand the Xgroup codes locating in the physical address 1000:0" What the heck is that? The 2 codes ive gotten with trying 4Gb today have been 05 and 01. Voltages are MCH 1.44, ICHI 1.65v, Vcore 1.51v, Vdimm 2.2v, CPU Vtt, 2 notches above stock. Timings are all set at 4-4-4-12-42 at DDR2 800 which should be no sweat for them. I did a memtest with all of them last week at over 1000 and they were all fine.

    Just tried to boot it again and got code C5. Thats 3 different codes in one day...

    all right, adjust your voltages to this:
    MCH = 1.56 or 1.64
    ICHIO = 1.70 or 1.80
    Vdimm = 2.3 or 2.4
    DDR2 REF = PLUS 2%

    and memory timing to at least CAS 5...i would really try: 5-5-5-15 (or 18) and 42-48.

    let us know.

    Instead of doing the Heatsink Mod, would it be better just to trash the Heatsink altogether and use something like the Zalman ZM-NBF47 on the NB & SB, and Swiftech MC21 for the Mosfets ?
    Wouldn't this work better then Abit's Stock Heatsinks?

    imo the swiftech sinks would be inadequate-plus you really want fans blowing on the nb and the mosfet hs,as ace a rues guide shows.i have a thin 60mm fan mounted with zipties to the legs of the ultra120,and 2 fans mounted on the nb.
    1 is screwed into nb,other is mounted using a long mb type standoff,then also screwed into a hole on the 120mm fan
    temps are 32 idle-mosfets nb 30 idle
    cpu temp idle is anywhere from 28-34 depending of course on room temps,and that is unlapped

    If a fan is needed then what about the Swiftech MCX159-CU for the north & south bridge, and what would you recommend for the mosfet if the Swiftech MC21 is "inadequate" ?

    thermalright has some nice solutions for the nb and sb,but when it comes to the mosfet hs you would have to build your own out of a spare hs.
    i did the heatpipe mod as posted earlier and it really does work very well.
    on the sb-i put microcool core protector along outside edge,and put mx2 on the nb sb and on the mosfets.you just really have to watch how much you tighten it down

    Alright, I guess, I'll just stick with the Ace-a-Rue's HS mod instead of recreating the wheel w/ new hs/fans...

    Now I notice most people use AS Céramique on the Mosfet, and AS5 on the NB & SB... why do people use a different TIM for the Mosfet ? Is Céramique non-conductive or something, so that if some gets on the board it's alright???

    the ceramique is a little thicker,and yes it is non conductive.
    i just use mx2 on everything personally

    The Northbridge (middle heatsink) has an outer pad that is white. It keep's the heatsink straight so you should leave that on, just apply compound to the center.
    The Mosfets I would make sure you use a non-capacitive compound like Ceramique.
    You should try and keep a fan blowing on the Mosfet heatsink or perhaps mount one on it if you are using a Quad Core CPU, it gets pretty hot even after the mod.
    If you look for Ace-a-Rue's post further up the page there is a link to his mod with instructions, it's in his signature.
    Thanks for the feedback th3joker & jtf2,
    After reading this review "TIM Roundup 2007", I think i will be applying Tuniq TX-2 to the NB,SB, and Mosfets.

    The new question is, when I mount the fans to the NB & Mosfets, do I point them so they are blowing air towards the heatsinks or pulling air away?
    Can anyone post pic's of how they have mounted there fans to or at these heatsinks?

    i think the revisions are mostly for parts since costs are changing all the time for mobo makers....i would doubt they would want to change a good thing!

    AS5 can be conductive under heavy clamping pressure...best to avoid it and go either ceramique or MX2.
