    Would this outperform a q6600 @ 3.6ghz? w/o extreme overclocking of course.

    Yes, for games a overclocked e8400 is better and faster more FPS than a lower clocked quadcore.

    With a decent wolfdale chip, its possible to run (at or around) 5Ghz @ 1.5/1.6ish Vcore for daily use of surfing, working, benching or testing hardware...without elaborate cooling.
    A simple decent single phase will be suffice

    I'll keep 'er then - I'm just looking for a really descent board to get a good 24/7 4Ghtz OC out of this 8500 Wolfdale. I am just now looking to move to a dual-core chip. This FX-57 system has been flawless for me at 3 Ghtz for 28 months. And I paid $799 for the chip at NewEGG at that time!
