With the exception of the memory voltage the others are most likely higher then they need to be. I just punched all those settings in knowing they would have no influence on how the memory clocked. The required NB voltage is going to be more the result of the FSB speed rather then memory speed.

Depends on the FSB/strap you use. A lower FSB/higher strap is going to require less voltage. This is 450 FSB/333 strap. Reaper at 1080MHz.

forgot what strap it was but using 400fsb it got me exactly 1066 which is the stock ram speed for 2.2v

thouht i had a bad piece of ram since it wouldnt boot at those settings, guess i just needed to put more nb voltage

I'm not sure where that info came from. To reduce the amount of ringing at the driver, Intel has added a weak pull-up device to the output buffer of the GTL circuit. This device turns on at the beginning of a low-to-high signal transition, substantially reducing the impedance mismatch between the output buffer and the transmission line. As a result, the amount of overshoot and ringback is significantly reduced. The source terminal of the pull-up device is connected to the core voltage supply. This causes the logic high voltage to rise above the GTL termination voltage for one cycle. After one bus cycle, the pull-up device is turned-off and the output will stabilize at VTT if the output remains in the logic high state. But when we raise VTT above VCORE we have effectively removed the pull-up device from the circuit. Unfortunately, overclocking necessitates the need for an increased VTT. But it is never beneficial to increase VTT just for the sake of doing so. Especially with the goal of elevating it above VCORE.

Once you get where you need to be speed-wise you can always go back and start dropping voltages. Whatever it takes, you have to get there first.

The only time I see those issues is with Vista 64 Bit. There may be a compatible version released as a Beta exists and works well. But with that said, the best and easiest way to flash is with a USB stick.

well i got my x38 today.

had a few problems as one of my memory stick is refusing to work in this chipset, im posting atm off the x38 but only with the stick that works. the other stick wont work by itself in any slot or in any order with the ok stick, it just gives C1 error & wont boot. the ok one works in any slot fine.

i hav'nt got round to testing the funny stick back in the icfx as it getting a bit late & it was working fine up until the x38 got delivered. it also far easyer for me to go & test it in my mates 975x/g down the road when i finish work tomorrow. might be worth trying his adata pc2-8000's in my x38 for peace of mind & before i think about RMAing the reapers.
then i'll have to borrow one of his adatas to tie me over till the reapers return from RMA lol. he cant complain as he got the adatas off me & still has'nt payed for them

all pritty annoying but uve got to laugh, i even did it the stupid tit way & instal;led the mobo stright under my blocks, then had to take it out again & build a ghetto rig so i could get to the RAM easy . the only good point was i did'nt hav to change any of my h2o loop around as the block placing from the icfx3200 is perfect for the x38.
