Hornet331: It does undervolt at any setting below that. I think there is a problem with voltage regulator overcorrecting at that point...not sure, maybe a bios bug though. Until Gigabyte releases a bios that doesnt default to 1333 on the memory though, I probably won't find out, or unless they do a non-beta release...my Vdimm is also jumpinng around a bit from 2.00 set in bios (+ .50) to 2.10. memory is slightly warm to the touch while priming, so I am not too concerned...

ToyTen: most recommendations I've seen for ddr3 usually have a 1T cr, until you start overclocking the ram...funny that OCZ doesnt list their subtimings at all, you may be able to ask in their forums for correct subtimings if you run into problems though...and of course if 1T is not stable for you, then 2T it is

ChrissTi: Any lower voltages and Prime locks up immediately, 1.65v is the most I can set it at, the settings start going by .05v after that (1.70,1.75, etc.)

I was just too shy with the vcore

It seems that you have a little problem. Do you have another PSU with a single higher Amperage +12V rail ? You should do a test, if you have one, and see whats happening.

When I try 1T CR, cpu-z doesn't "apply" it, and seeing that Everest says I have it when I do not, I don't know what to think....

    Okey...
    Problems problems problems...

I have been running my pc for 5 days, 5 days uptime, with folding@home, and hevay program. Stable as rock. I installed a program that needs and reboot.

I reboot, and bam! it reboots, and when it has come half way trught post, right after the bios av counted up all my memory (2x1gb atm) it shuts down and restarts with default settings. (Overclocking failed protection kicked in)

Any suggestions to fix this problem. Maybe i just will get an asus motherboard.

1.48v to be just 200 or so Mhz higher? That's not very efficient, dude.
Also, using it with 6 multiplier is giving slippers to your CPU when he could be using running shoes. Don't do that, man.

that's just your good old (cold) boot bug saying hello. I've solved that problem myself upgrading to a stronger PSU, but I think we'll never know exactly what's causing it... probably the CPU not getting enough volts at boot from the motherboard...

wait a sec... you have a 6850! that's a 3Ghz processor! why are you 'under-megahertzing' your CPU, dude?

verify it with spi, just try the same timings and just alter the command rate.

If spi is slower with when 2T is eneabled you know it works and cpu-z just cant read it.

really strange behaviour, vdimm is also strange that it jumps so much.

did you disable all the advance feature of the cpu (C1E,EIST,NXbit etc.)

do you have any chance to measure the Vcc with a DMM?

Yep, it works allright, as you said , I gain like 200Mo in bandwidth in everest cache and memory bench. here is the max I got yet. Pretty cool knowing I payed less then 120€ for 2Gigs :P

And there is-finally- only Everest reading it correctly. neither cpu-z nor memset 3.4

Hornet331, I do have all that disabled, but I will double check on next reboot. I have a nice Fluke 189 DMM, but I am not sure where the points on the board are that I need to measure. If you (or anyone else) can point me in the right direction I'll be happy to take measurements.

    GA-X38-DQ6 - BIOS Version F7

Its not up there yet, but it seems F7 is about to be released
Yeh I got a support email from Gigabyte today, that said "Please kindly update BIOS to latest version, F7". I followed the link they sent me, only to find F6b still at the top of the list. Ah well, the wait continues.....http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...lies/frown.gif

And just to add, yes I've been having the same POST probs as most of you. In the reply I just got from Gigabyte service, they said it's a RAM voltage issue, but all that's set to what Apogee recommend. Tell ya's, I'm getting bloody tired of turning on my rig, having to wait for about five minutes till it finally POSTs, then go to active desktop, do a restart, change the settings back to the OC ones, and then cross my fingers it'll POST again! Let's hope that F7 (when it finally comes out) fixes these voltage issues, 'cos as far as I'm concerned 850W should be plenty of power to kick my rig to life.

thats horrible to have to do that.....have you got a copy of f7h cause that is availbe ...

can someone remember which site so he can give it a go???

what other suggestions ca we give? .....try with just one ram stick in different slots.?

try another psu?even if it is a lower wattage ...just try stock with minimal addons..a cheap 10 quid jobby. if that clears it you know to send back your present psu.
