    Hi,

    wrong post of Value.

    NB: 55/54°C
    SB: 54/50°C

this temps are while my ambient temp in case are 42°C. at moment i have deinstalled all casefans. (build a new enviroment)

now i have found in the X38 chipset information a bit about the thermal specification. highest working temperature are 85°C, but the MCH works up to 92°C without a failure. Reboot's are strictly needed under "catastrophal condition" (without hardware damage of MCH) at 105°C.

Die or IHS temperatures ? How is the temp measured by the board ? W/o knowing that the info is pretty much worthless..

Yes, found the specs here. That's most definately not where ASUS placed the NB temp sensor :P Does anyone know where it is ?

hehe, ASUS cut the IHS, put his Sensor on the Die (with UHU) and put the IHS on the MCH again. Now, this is the reason how expansive the maximus is. :-)

I made a few changes to my water loop, setup a push pull and that made a nice 3-5 degree drop in temps, I also added a Corsair ram cooler and I must say what a huge piece of , you would think from Corsair it would be better quality. It's comming out today.
I ordered one as well about a week ago, expecting it this weekend. If one of you guys don't start a thread first I'll start one with detailed pics and tests. Are you guys lapping experts or is this your first?

Is OCCT buggy or not ( 1.1.0) after a day tweaking I decided to to disable everything (transaction booster/dram static) now it isnt even stable with all off and even downclocked to 1:1 ( 425 fsb) 850 5-5-5-15 , what the heck is going on. The ram was memtest86+ stable for 13-14 hours. I havent prime yet, but from my experience if it is memtest86+ stable it would be prime95 stable. and this ram was tested @ my P5K deluxe...... So am I good as long it is prime blend stable for say 12 hours+? It could be while testing during OCCT it corrupted my OS, maybe thats why it will error with any clocks? Because during tests I had a view times My whole screen went black or Pink or White...

That's because Memtest86 is worthless....use OCCT, Prime blended, or HCI memtest....I posted a link on the previous page or two to HCI Memtest.

Sounds like you've peaked with load temps like that. Most Q6600s I've seen don't go past 4GHz with your typical water cooling. I can get close to 4.1 but just idling. It's not stable.

First timer on lapping, I have been reading alot tho and it's dosent seem overly complicated.
I do alot of die grinding and polishing die's at work so this cant be much different.
I would however look forward to you starting a thread, tips pics and ect.. would be very helpful, I'm not looking for any new shiny paper wieghts

for lapping anything i use a true flat thick piece of glass or metal (checked with a straight edge) then tape some wet dry auto paper on it and go to town. 500,1000,1500,2000. i make sure i keep it clean, no zippers, little granulars in the paper or under it. you will feel them if they are there. i use a straight edge on whatever i am lapping against light to check for flatness. if it has any highs or lows light will shine through..

    Hyper Threading

Where is the intel hyperthreading option in the bios??

i remember seeing it in my bios, but now i can't find it!

I'm having audio latency issues with reason 4.0, and i want to toy with HTT to see what it does

I have the following problem.Prime 95 Small FFt's im am rock stable. But when i run the Blend i always get an error at 47-48 min.And i mean no matter what bios settings i have (PLL volt-NB volt-RAM volt-SB Volt) i always get an error at exactly 47-48 min.Not 46 neither 49.Do u have any ideas what to pay attention at.I have run out of ideas

And by the way i have lowered the mem timings @ 5-5-5-15 an increased Ram volt at 2.1.Still nothing.

Hey ChaosAD, I got the same probleme like u......... but Mine is even worse Same RAM, I cant GET this ram at Any speed Prime passed/ OCCT passed within a hour...... it worked @ my P5K deluxe flawless, on the P5K it was stable 24/7 1167mhz 5-5-4-9 @ 2.05v and 1200mhz 5-5-5-12 @ 2.05v..... On the maximus I tried to get 1133 mhz @ 5-5-4-9 running disabled even all transaction/twister/dram ... still no go , upped the volts up to 2.21 actual... still cant pass...... and then I downclocked the mem to 850 mhz 5-5-5-15 @ 2.10 actual, still cant pass LOL, what the is going on:X and eventually it corrupted my OS LOL.

however I just tested 14 hours memtest86+ no errors before I tried to run P95 Blend/OCCT, so the ram is not faulty, it seems that this board + my Ballistix doesnt like eachother :X , Tried bios: 0802/0903/0907 all the same. I think I am finally gonna swap tomorrow in My 2x2 G.Skills in and see how it works.

I had the same problem. My Q6600 is Small FFT stable 3.6GHz@1.32v. BUT for blend I have to increase the voltage to 1.34v to get it stable and dont error at 47-48min into the test.

So I passed the memtest 760 percent coverage @ 1.55nb, 1.35cpu, 1.48fsbvtt, ddr2 @ 2.28v.. but try doing the blend test and am failing within 15 minutes now?

What is the problem? I am trying to mess with settings... it passed the blend test before with 1.47nb, 1.42fsbvtt, 1.35cpu ddr@2.28v but I needed to up the volts to pass the prime blend/geoforms at the same time because it would crash my cpu.

Also, I was wondering why a lot of people here with q6600 oc to 3.6ghz use much lower voltage than the anandtech review of the maximus. They recommended 1.61-1.7nb for anything past 440fsb, and 1.5-1.6fsbvtt for anything past 440fsb. Did they get it totally wrong or does the newer bios play a role? I can't seem to get my cpu stable enough to pass all tests. Always seems to pass 2 out of 3. (OCCT, Prime, Memtest)

Another thing, should I enable or disable CPU TM Function and Vanderpool Tech. in bios?

ok, you guys suffering from the ~47 minute crash in prime95 blend :
try running a custom test with whatever k size is not passing.

At some point, I was always crashing at prime95 blend at about 47min. Turns out the 896k test always failed. So I ran 896k tests only and upped my vcore until stable. I had to up it a few notches to pass

    there ya go

Krav : what bios are you using?? I have stable settings at 3.4 on 0903 bios.
