Question about the EATX 4/8 pin plug. I use an Enermax Infinity 650 PSU that has 2 four pin connectors, should I plug both into the mobo? My Gigabyte P35 DQ6 wouldn't boot with both connected. Currently I'm only running with one plugged in, I didn't want to kill something by using both.

Q6600 has NO HYPERTHREADING . You want an 8 core processor on a desktop huh? Me too; we'll have to wait a few years for that though.

I'm really fed up with this board, it has been bugging me for weeks now I am using a 6750 (no o/c yet) and I get random lock ups and reboots. Sometimes it will just lose the lan and I have to reboot and most of the times it will freeze up with no error. Everything is default in bios (I am using 0907), I have Vista 64 with 4GB of Mushkin on. My CPU temp in bios is 11 degrees celcius which doesnt sound right of course. Rest of the temps are in the 40s (MB,SB,NB)

Also the LCD poster stopped working at some point, and hasnt turned on since no matter what I choose in bios...

I managed to get some o/c done when I first installed the board, but after upgrading to 0907 I am not stable even at defaults. Should I go to an older bios ?

    there ya go

Krav : what bios are you using?? I have stable settings at 3.4 on 0903 bios.
So what you recommend in not to deal with any of the other voltages other than the vcore? Why should vcore be a problem when i pass the small fft's test?It didnt cross my mind to be honest but i ll give it a try and i ll report back.

0907 is a beta bios after all... so yes, i would recommend you go to a stable oficial release. Even if 0907 seems to be best for some ppl. And yes, 0907 also shows me too low temps, so it's not only your board. I guess that's the price you pay for flashing beta bios versions. Good luck !

907 is official, in fact i tried even 0601 which supposed to be the best and
did not find suitable for my ram corsair 8500c5 x 2.
and now i'm back to 907.

Here is a screenshot from Asus download page. Which part of the "beta" word is so complex to understand ? In fact, in my town if you point a problem at your tech support while using a beta bios/firmware, you will only get a warranty void issue

P.S. Beta version = use it on your own risk. It may also void your product warranty !

I see no "BETA" label here. So there's no worry about vioding warranty, etc...because ASUS has NOT labelled these bioses as BETA

I cuold have sworn that i've seen that option in my bios at one time, and it was ENABLED.

My bios did boost my FSBtm to 2.0v too, by itself. I showed over 2v in pcprobe and everest and in the bios hardware monitor

Maybe you have got another mobo then a Maximus as in your sig lol, as you also talk about settings that are not really in the Asus bios engineers dictionary...

soz mate no Hyperthreading here either... with Q6600, could well be it's mentioned in the manual as the board supports CPU's that have hyperthreading

I'm not kidding guys, i DID see that hyperthreading option in my bios. I was in the section where you have C1E, TM, Vanderpool, etc..... it was located at the very bottom of that list, now it's a blank blue line.......

    Thanks cadaveca.
I'm an old man with limited info. and sometime I just hate to argu.

    Currently working two boards, X3230/qx6700 on maximus apogeeGT/ thermochill 120.2 and QX9650 on P5E-D D-tek/thermochill 120.3.

Love the first board from the first sight although I know it won't be the one
i'm sticking with aka mistress!, or not 24/7.
The second is decent enough to be my 24/7 lady (that's till rampage becomes available).
immature ddr3 is limiting cpu is not i'm doing 50% mild o/c trying to stablize
the memory @ 1600 and not suceeding although can do 1800 @ the expense of latency.

Rez, yes it is in the bios but cpu does not support it.
last ht enabled cpu was something like p4 3.0E suggest that research some more in that area.

it seems this mbo is driving everybody .

some webpages differ , no worries, some aren't directly updated either,... dunno what the fuzz is here , beta or not the final releases differ mostly zilch zero from the beta...

I have already RMA'd boards with a betas on it , no probs for the RMA...

Thanks. I was pleasantly surprised. That was a very good chip though; I had a hard time selling it, as it does 3.16Ghz @ 1.080v. My L737B can't do that. But then again, the L726B has a vid. of 1.2125, while the L737B has a vid. of 1.2250. In the end though, I knew the latter has more potential for stable clocking in the high Ghz. I was able to push the L726B to 495 fsb and the L737B won't post past 475 fsb... for now . I am currently running 3.825Ghz 24/7 with a cpupll of only 1.5v. voltage is 1.376 prime stable, on the 333 strap. I'm more than happy. I will keep pushing though.

Hyperthreading is a processor feature. If the processor does not have it, the board, even if it supports it, cannot enable it all by its own. The Q6600 has no HTT feature, period. Were you using another processor with the maximus before switching?

Since now i was using the 333 strap.I thought to give 400 strap a try,but pc didnt even post.Anyone experienced the same problem?
I find when I use the 333 strap I need trans booster disabled level 0 and the 400 strap trans booster enabled level 0

if it's not set this way (for me anyways) I always get the "DET RAM" hang
