Best? Well, I used 805 so far. Might want to try the 801-version by bigtoe some day. But I wouldn't bet money on the fact that either one of them could help with the low fsb problem of the chipset.

YES! Finally got my q6600 from DHL this morning. Lets see how high FSB this MB can go with a quad.

Has anyone tried the "big toe" BIOS from Tony? I downloaded it, but curious what was added or changed?
0805 bios is utter CRAP. 0801 went beautifully 9x333 with all settings AUTO. I'm now pushing 6x450 with my quad @ 1.65v NB, all other voltages @ default.

The version should be based on 801. Haven't tried it so far, but I might give it a try.
Right now I'm trying to make myself some nice backplates for the vreg coolers, the board bends like hell even when using a backplate for the CPU. A 4mm thick aluminium block should do the trick![]()

do ya have a link?
i used the search function for big toes and modded bios but do not see the plus version bios.

I'd have to search for it too. I found it wandering through the OCZ support forums some day.

Sounds to me like unless you are having issues running four sticks of ram that there is no need to switch to this BIOS. Here is a link though.

Thanks for posting the link. Yes, the big toe BIOS was based on the 801 version and came out when the 4 sticks of RAM issue was hot. I am still not sure what this changed, but I still think I will give it a try.

In regards to the MOSFET blocks, I watercool mine with EK blocks. You are right about the board bending. This is what I did.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=167150
I destroyed the heat pipe to get the base plates, but not going back to air. Just take a screwdriver and jam in between the fins, the twisting shears the fins off making a great backplate.
Thanks alotI made some backplates out of 1mm Aluminium before which was way too weak, the board still bent like mad.
I think I'll try your method, should be the fastest solution. I also ordered some of the 3mm stainless steel backplates that Chilled PC offers.
I really don't want to know how the board would bend if I didn't use a large backplate for the CPU already...
Intel i7 8700k | AsRock Z370 Gaming K6 | G.Skill TridentZ PC4-3200 | Gainward GTX 1080 Phoenix GLH | Seasonic Prime Titanium 650W
Been there as well. I mounted a Storm before using a backplate and resulted in severe bending. I fixed this before the MOSFET bending in this thread.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=153512
In regards to the MOSFET backplates, I had to buy some thin rubber to electrically isolate the plate to the mobo. If I was in Europe, I would have probably gone with the Chilled PC version since it comes with longer screws and the rubber material in one package, I think.
Good luck.
I always use Thermalrights' 775 backplate for mounting my CPU WC block... on the Striker board I had EK waterblocks on the mosfets too, with carefull tightening the board did bend slightly...

Hope it helps...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved
Remark : They call me Pro AsusSaaya yupp, I agree
Just so people know....
Asus just uploaded a new bios for the Plus board to there Ftp site.

I only see a 1201 BIOS per your link. Is it gone now?
Makes me suspicious that it sounds like a non-plus version or striker numbering BIOS.
it is down towards the bottom. jumps from 0801 to 0901.
i have it flashed but cant find a changelog yet. i was hoping it had something to do with tripple sli and it works fine with current overclock so i kept it.

Yeah..
Sometimes there Ftp site redirects to an outdated list. I don't overclock my system far enough to give a valid opinion other than it is stable with everything I have thrown at it. I stop at 3.4 1.36vcore 9x, I hate heat and I cool with air. The RAM runs solid at 1066 5-4-4-15 2t 2.2v. I still can't run the G-Skill HZ'z at 1t even at 800mhz, but I think that is a D9 issue and not a board issue.
