I have had it installed now for most of the day. I replaced my DFI X38 with this 780i and have been pretty impressed. It's a bit different than the DFI, vcore in the bios works differently. On the DFI, I could leave all voltages at stock and I could run my Q6600 G0 at 9x333 perfectly. While I am able to do this on the 780i, the bios runs vcore at about 1.38-1.41 when set to auto. The DFI X38 (and P35 before it) would keep it at stock vcore (which was about 1.22'ish). I have to set the vcore in the bios to 1.375 to get it to actually be at 1.29 (ALOT of droop!), but it is completely stable.
So, in summary, my Q6600 G0 is running at 9x333, all 8gigs of G-Skill is running beatifully and my Areca ARC-1210 raid card is working flawlessly in the middle pci-e 16X slot. Also, no sound issues with my X-FI-based Prelude in this board either.

How is the general quality of this board compared to that of the 680i ?
To be honest, it is very well constructed. I am competely impressed with the build quality. The only thing I I would like to have seen done differently is the orientation of the NB heatsink, but it hasn't affected performance at all, so I guess it isn't a big deal.
One more thing. Is there a version of Everset Ultimate that works with this motherboard?

Does anyone know an e-tailer in the us or canada that has stock and will ship the board to canada?

First post and I hope I am not doing anything wrong. I went out and got a XFX780i at my local Fry's electronics. I am wondering if I should return and wait for a Evga board.
Another question in general about the 780i, is the fact that it uses ddr2 a good thing?

What your trying to say?
That you dont know neither?
I want to know sure or the 2nd card is blocking the way for a sb wc-cooler.
At the moment 1 have an EK sb-block on my 680i between 2 cards in 1st and 3rd slot.
As far as i can see im not so sure if it is possible to keep that in place with a 3rd card installed.

Just the first 2, as I posted, should only be in the way. I can tell you with my 8800gt, that there isnt much clearence above it either. You asked about 3 cards:I told you the 3rd card isnt close to the SB (just by looking at the picture).Originally Posted by justi
Im not sure what you want......It clearly depends on where your barbs are located on the block.
Ok sorry, maybe i wasnt clear enough
With 3 cards i mean that the 3rd card is in the 2nd pci-e slot.
As with 2 card SLI you use the 1st (highest) and 3rd (lowest) pci-e slots.
So the 3rd card wil go in the middle slot.
With that cleared out, when installed 3 cards al 3 slots will be filled.
Now the question is, is it possible to use a wc-block on the southbridge when all 3 cards are installed?

All good..
I dont think it goes in slot 3 for the 2nd card. The SLI bridge that came with the mobo would only reach 1 slot across. The tri sli bridge, however, does reach across all 3 so I believe your thinking in regards to card orientation is wrong to start with.
hmm... was excited to hear of the upgrade program but i just realized that the original HSF heatpipe thing was destroyed... curiosity and wire clipper got the better of me... ya think they will accept the remainder of the board for an upgrade?

I will be receiving my XFX 780i board tomorrow. I am currently running a DFI 680i LT board and it was just too finicky with my setup. I could only get my Q6600 to 3.2 stable and I know there is more in that G0 stepping core. In addition, I wanted to be able to run the new 45nm cores at some point. I am sorry that I do not have a sig up now and will take care of that later. I do run 2 8800GTs in SLI right now. Also, TRI SLI sounds interesting to me.
Here is a link to where I bought the board http://www.ncixus.com/products/27630/MBN780ISH9/XFX/
I have used NewEgg quite a bit over the years, but they wanted $320 for this board, which is outrageous.
They had 10 in stock when I ordered mine on Monday and are out now.
The 8800GT will not do Tri-SLI

Dont worry about having the XFX verison..Its pretty much the exact samething...I have the XFX have not gotten any of the A0 problems like another user has on his EVGA...
Ive gotten my Q6600 up to 3850...tried to hit 4gig but wanted way to much volts for air...I did boot to windows at 4050 and got all the way to the cpu test in 06 when it crashed..

Now another question. So far there are only three 780i boards, correct? Two reference designs by EVGA and XFX and a non-reference version from Asus.
I am reading from the back of the box and I am seeing that my XFX780i is only rated for 1333fsb. What are people going to do when the QX9770 comes out? I think that one has 1600fsb.
And another question about ram for this board. I was originally was going to wait for a x48 ddr3 board. How marginal is the difference between a really good stick of ddr2 and really good ddr3 memory like the Cell Shock 1800mhz?
I am having the hardest time deciding what to get or what to keep. Should I just wait for the next gen stuff?
