Trivia89, Have you tried erasing the RTC RAM: Resetting BiosFor me AI Suite isn't working with this bios (neither with 701/804)!
It just shows 0000 MHz and hangs if i try to close it!
1. Turn off the computer and disconnect power.
2. Remove onboard battery
3. Move jumper (CLRTC) from pins 1-2 to 2-3 (Keep inplace for about 15 seconds)
4. Move jumper back to pins 1-2
5. Reinstall the battery
6. Turn on computer and enter Bios
7. Set to default (F5) / Save & Exit
8. Re-enter Bios / flash bios again
9. Restart & Enter Bios
10. Enter Bios Settings and Save....
Also in my opinion the AI Suite for your OS is junk... It will cause more problems than it’s worth... If you’re going to OC or update your Bios - Use your bios screen for that... Actually all the software provided on the install disk is practically worthless... Uninstall and save yourselves the trouble...

some suggestion?
Still on vacation, so I havent touched my desktop yet.
I'm on a laptop thousands of miles away (in Santiago, Chile)
It's really sad to see you guys suffer from this badly rushed BIOSES.
I feel lucky though because I've stayed with 601 before I left.
I can't believe you are unable to flash back to former bioses, this is really unaccetpable. And also it is so wrong to see the latest bios revision decrease the 3D performance. I have an 8800 Ultra as well, thank god I haven't flashed with this new POS.![]()
![]()
I'm thinking about putting a warning in the first post of this thread about not flashing to new bioses after 601. If you guys agree, of course and really think that it could help others.
I've seen this happening with ASUS boards before, but this is real madness... to limit EZFlash's usability....![]()
I really hope this works well at the end of the day for you guys....

Ok some suggestions on top of my head, and taken from my former bad experiences:
1) Consider NOT using "AI Whatever..." software/hardware stuff from Asus and instead try going manual in your BIOS settings.
2) BIOSES work for both Deluxe and Deluxe WI/FI, and on the last one it doesn't erase Express Gate as long as you have your WI/FI card physically installed. IF EG dissapears, just load bios defaults and EG will be back.
3) Sound Blaster cards. In the future consider not purchasing more Creative sound cards. I made my peace with Soundblaster more than a year ago, due to instability, blue screens during games, faulty and bloated drivers. Instead go with any other soundcard using a CMEDIA chip, preferrably the CMEDIA 8788. They are proven to use less CPU cycles than the bloated Creative Cards, they are cheaper, drivers are more solid not only for XP but also Vista.
And true crystal sound...don't believe me..please try one. And EAX is overrated.
You think I'm ranting against Creative (no I'm not I'm talking reality)
Just do a google search on Soundblaster and about 70% of what you'll find on forums is about problems and headaches.
4) I know we are experimenting with settings, but we don't want to be sitting ducks risking our hardware for ASUS's sake.
If your hardware is working perfectly fine, refrain from upgrading your BIOS.
If your hardware is having problems or if it's performance is not as expected, consider upgrading your BIOS.
If someone in this forum is having a problem with a new BIOS, refrain from upgrading your BIOS.
I suggest to comment troubleshoot the problem here until a solution is found. If a solution is found, then upgrading the BIOS revision can be an option.
If a BIOS revision has not been officialy posted on the ASUS site, I suggest not downloading it, unless you are absolutely sure of what you are doing.
The reason is that we cannot blame ASUS for something that hasn't been officially released.
Those are my two cents. I feel your pain guys, I hope things get better....

What about asking Asus to re-release the 601 bios with an actual date, so that the ez-flash would permit to flash it?![]()
Things are still looking good for my TEAM Xtream DDR3 1333
