The reason I think this is because I've tried 2x other graphics cards (eVGA 8800GT and XFX 8800GTX) and I tried 1x other PSU (Antec TPQ 850w) and I couldn't reproduce the problem with any of that hardware, they all worked just fine! Besides testing that other hareware I also did many other things to try figureing out the issue with no luck.

With that said I contacted eVGA and talked with them about my problem and the testing I did. They agreed to RMA the card and my new replacment was shipped out yesterday (same day I contacted them) via cross-shipping and should arrive later this afternoon! Granted I paid for the privledge but it certainly beats waiting 2+ weeks with no card (this is why I love eVGA, their customer service has always been 110%)!

Now despite my graphics card issue this board is awesome! Like many it took me many reboots to get the BIOS somewhat figured out and to get my system stable at stock settings. I soon became comfortable with the BIOS (after lots of testing and lots of reading, thanks for Raja's article/review over at Anandtech) and realized the potential of this board! Despite my limited time with the board I'm already able to run considerably tighter timings (sub-timings as well) with less voltage and same speeds as I could with my 680i! This alone lowered my 32M SuperPI times well over 1min at 3.6Ghz, I was blown away! Granted this has lots to do with a new chipset but still over 1min is nothing to laugh at!

I don't think I'm anyway near the upper limits of this board yet and now that my semester is over I'll have the time to really push it!
    Hello Roger.

Yea got a really good tip for you download the Raid drivers from DFI Site for Intel ICH9 the ones on my Floppy would not work

But once you're up and running there aint nothing like two Raptors in Raid 0 you will never except anything less thats for sure!

I'll look into getting some MX-2. What sinks would you recommend for the CPL-4-50 chips? Something like the TR HR-09 type or more like the Enzotech BMR-C1 copper sinks?

I'd like to take this chip to 3.6GHz relatively quickly, eventually shooting for 4Ghz+, though I'll likely WC if I go above 3.6.

I have quite a bit of airflow in my current case. CM-690, 2x yates(all my yates are D12SL-12) exhaust out the top, 1x yate exhaust out the back, 1x yate on my TRUE. Using the stock 120's on the side panel and in the front for intake.
    In Progress:

    terroristone,
I just set up a RAID 0 Array on my board using 2x Raptor 36GB (16mb) drives and used 128mb (default) cluster size. From all the reading I've done the cluster size really depends on what you will use your computer for, there will be benefits in certain applications but in others there will be trade-offs so my opinion has always been to stick with the default size. By the way the performance increase from from my old 680i is quite impressive (as far as read/write and burst goes)! This ICH9R is very nice compared to the Nvidia 570MCP!

    dMITIj,
Interesting results, so you took the card you had been having the problem with (when installed in your DFI P35) and installed it into a friends motherboard (680i) and had no problems? But when you installed that same card again into your new Gigibyte motherboard the same problem arose (despite a different PSU)? Those results are not very promising to say the least. Have you happened to try a different graphics card into either your older DFI UT P35 or into your new Gigibyte board and if so what happened? I ask because like I said above my new replacment will be here Monday and now I'm worried it will be no different? If I continue to have the same problem despite a brand new graphics card than I'll probably just have to get another new motherboard (even though I'm really starting to like this one)! I'm going to try a few more things tonight and I'll keep you posted, please do the same with any new resutls you have?

Great reads dMITIj, thanks for digging up and posting those linkys! I just spent the last 35min reading as much as possible! My overall impression though is that the Antec TPQ problem is somewhat isolated with certain Nvidia cards? Unfortunetly my problem is a bit different because I've used this same exact hardware (except for DFI that is) for almost a ful year with no problems. Plus I've now tested two separate PSU's with same results (the aftermentioned Antec TPQ and a smaller BFG 650w unit from BB). Although it stinks that your TPQ is not playing nice with the rest of your hardware but at least your pretty sure what the problem is. I'm eagerly awaiting the results you have with Corsairs TX750w (a great psu by the way)!

I feel kinda stupid for trying this because it probably could have killed all my hardware but I took my old Antec NeoPower 480w and connected it only to my 8800GTX (by bridging the ATX connector to make PSU start up) and used my OCZ to run the rest of system. Once both were connected I just started both the Antec and motherboard at same time and it booted fine but I got the same darn message (which again leads me to hope its just the card, we'll see on Monday for sure)! Thanks again man for taking the time to help and post some research!

    Bios 12/05 Beta is out.

reasons for change is simply a microcode update for Intel's latest CPU, however anyone care to test to see if anything else has changed that may not be listed in the changelog?

Thanks for the update cantankerous, much apprecaited! A friend of mine just dropped off his old 7900GT so that I can continue trying to narrow down my "Nvidia Power Sentinel" issues. With that said I just downloaded that BIOS and will soon flash my board (fingers crossed but it might help with my problem, although I'm not hopeful). Anyway I will post back later with any results, changes, etc..of the new BIOS. I have only ever used 11/07 so I will be comparing the new BIOS to that one.

Unless stated otherwise BIOS updates contain the changes in previous BIOS versions. So the ROM update would not be a running change in the 12/05 BIOS as that was done in the 11/13 and would be inclusive of the 12/05 version.
